Hello World,

Can anyone point me to an existing discussion on providing power to a regular LCD that is built into a case? ie: one plug to power both the PC and newly incorporated LCD.

Thanks!

If the LCD uses a 12v adaptor (some do), then you *could* just grab a 12v power from a molex connector, and use that to run the LCD.

Unfortunately it's not 12V. Standard 110V here.

Running an extra AC power cord through your case...?

You will need to find your inline powersupply for external power then.
. .And plug it in an outlet. Better that way anyway you wont risk shorting it out.
Or get a regulated power supply from radio shack.

Need more information. . Does it say anything on the back of the LCD?

If your not afraid to void your warranty (your asking on mod forum...so I'm guessing NO!) You can pop the cover on your PSU (with it unplugged from the mobo and wall!!!) find the connections on the board that connect to the 110V plug and solder in a new power cable (just cut the plug end off a standard power cable). once soldered cover the joints with electrical tape (just to keep it from shorting out to the PSU's metal case). You'll need to make a hole in the metal PSU case to route the power cord through (don't get any metal flakes in the PSU...Best to take the guts out of the case when doing this), trim the hole with a rubber grommet, to keep the metal from cutting the cord, and make it pretty. Next route the power cable plug in the LCD and Bob's your uncle!

Yes I know you want pics!!! Sorry don't have any at this time :( but should have a detailed account latter this fall as I need to do this same thing to my pacNplay mod... Just have another to get finished before it.

Just make sure you remember in AC....Black is Hot, White is neutral, green is ground!!!

Thank you CrazyBillyBob!! You are the man!

I will document my procedure (although it may be a while before I can start) and post them here.

Thanks again!!

BTW, have you elaborated on your "pacNplay mod" idea? Care to?

Me, I'm making a luggable similar to this (http://www.creativemods.com/motm/motm_view.php?url=motm_september_2004) only I don't want to cut the Pelican case thereby retaining it's integrity.

Ben,
Here's a link to my work log for PackNPlay (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12174)... If you've got q's about it post them there.

I'm glad that you found my post helpful :)
