Hello again fokes:) this is the newest projekt i have begun.

The project is going to be build apon an antec P190 case wich I recently got my fingers on (needed a powersupply and since the case comes with 1200 Watts of power, 650W & 550W that was another reason to buy it)

The plans is a following:
1: Make cover plates for most of the interior stuff
2: maybe cut a window beside of the big 250 mm cooler
3: place reservoir on the top
4: watercool the hell out of the punk!
5: make a black & white colour scheme. black fluid, white light.

So what do I need for this? Well… lets start with the BIG thingie!
I got my hands on this lovely thing:
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/Mora.JPG
The MO-RA 2PRO radiator! 9*120 mm! that’s 1080 mm of cooling dudes! So I hope that this ting can passive cool my system which consists of following:
AMD phenom X4 9850 BE
Ati X1950XT-X
In these 2 things is about 300 Watts of heat that needs to be dealt with. In my current setup (scrapheap challenge) this is done by a 120,3 mm radiator with idle temps @ 40/45 C. so I hope to keep these temps, or beat them:D

and for the case i got the P190
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/P1962.jpg

Lets begin
First of all.. there is some smaller damage on the case because the previous owner had a leak in his system, which he blamed on the huge MO-RA radiator, because his pump literally blew up xD.
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01271.jpg
I did prove him wrong though. In the same system as he had the MO-RA raddy he had 2 of the little handy things called quick connectors (the things that closes the waterflow when taken apart).
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01270.jpg
Now, I knew that these would restrict the waterflow, I just didn’t knew how much, so I made a test, which can be seen here:
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15352
as you can see they absolutely KILL the flow of the system, so I decided to put them in the “keeper” box:D

the first thing I did was of course a lot of thinking but I have no pic´s of that sry:/
then I made up cardbox models of how I wanted the whole thing to look:
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01257.jpg
I put a model in the top to cover the two 140 mm fans. IMO they were way to visible.
Then I made some for the 5.25 bay, and both hdd cages.
Then I made some sketches for how they could possibly end up looking:
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/sketch1.jpg
The big plate is the one that has to cover up the 2*140 mm fans, and some wires. The other ones is the three you also see in the cardbox models at the bays.
Then I mounted the radiator on the left side of the case. Since I cant get the radiator off without bleeding the system, I didn’t wanted to have it on the right side so that I couldn’t get into all the hardware easily.
The thing is mounted with something that looks like mother board spacers. Ill maybe post a pic later on, but here it is on the case side:
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01259.jpg
(the case side, and the radiator has a weight of 7.2 kilo´s alone!!!)
This fan will make sure that my system don’t overheat in any circumstances lol:
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01264.jpg

Just a little comparison to and ordinary P182 case (the P190 is almost 10 cm longer xD)
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01266.jpg
And here you see the whole the previous owner made for the radiator. He had it on the side with the huge fan. Don’t know how ill hide these… ill find out xD
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01268.jpg

This is how I plan to mount the pump. I am using a ddc+ pump and am gonna pair it with a XSPC reservoir top:
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01275.jpg

And a little overview. You can see the pump, and another cardboard at the rear fan. Ill post sketches of this later on:)
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01277.jpg
You might notice that I have taken the included fan holder off in the PSU section. I did this because I think its big and clumsy. So I threw it out, and mounted some fan grills on the fan because I didn’t wanted to have the cables from the PSU´s conflicting with the fan…
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01279.jpg
As seen in this picture of an P182 the cables from the PSU comes very close to the fan :S
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01282.jpg
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01284.jpg
That’s it:) ill update… yeah.. when I get something done lol…
All that’s left to do is to show this pic of the whole mombo with the raddy on the side… damn that thing is big!
http://www.tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01285.jpg

Have fun!:D

Whoa, mama! That's a decent-sized rad right there.

...and what happened to the former owner of that case is what has really kept me from going the water-cooling route just yet. Too scared that I'll destroy everything.

07-15-2008, 10:45 AM
yeah.. it did cost him a few harddrives lol... but as you see in the link i posted that was purely beacuse of the quick connectors:P so as long as your carefull, its safe and colder:D
the shop i have to order vital parts from is closed duo to vacation, and cant get anything cut in the next 2 weeks either so i have plenty of time to make sketches and .cad drawings so that i can send all of the stuff and hopefully complete this mod quicker than the last one xD

Well, your link crashed my browser several times when I tried it this morning, so I'll just have to take your word on it...

then just try to save it from this link:) its the one named flow test in the bottom:)

should work
(what browser are you using? i remember firefox 2.0 had that fault)

That's one hell of a radiator! Been considering taking a window air conditioner apart, but that'd actually be a fair bit smaller than this...! Nice huge case for it too, can't wait to see how this turns out.

p0Pe
07-22-2008, 02:49 PM
yeah the raddy is a tad big;) but ill need it XD or not lol

Back again with new parts:) (sry for crappy pics, only got cell atm:/ )

I ordered a fan for the raddy, and a reservoir top for my ddc pump (this is the best top for the ddc pumps atm!).

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC00061.jpg

And as you see there is 2 fans behind the pump! This is because I wanted a window in the side, but there was a big fan in the way. So instead of cutting and filling to my hands started bleeding I used the hole that was already there.

First I removed the fan and the dust filter

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC00062.jpg

And then, a nice window with a fine mesh that will fit the rest of the “mesh” theme. In the place where there were a dust filter before I plan to put in some acrylic. Black, or white wich is the overall color scheme.

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC00063.jpg

As you see this is 400 mm of cooling potential:D 2*200 mm fans!!! This should keep the temps down. I will make a cover for them which will sit on top:) will look something like the other fan holes I made in previous sketches.

This is a little view of how big the raddy and fans actually are xD

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC00059.jpg

And how the tubes are gonna enter the case. This will look rather hot IMO!

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC00060.jpg

Did I mention the color of the fluid? ;)

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/F1-0009-2.jpg

BLACK! And with white light this should look AWSOME! (I hope lol)

That was all for now:) next will be finished sketches of the parts that needs to be cut!

Stay cool!

p0Pe
07-23-2008, 06:30 AM
thx all, and yeah. the raddy added to the two fans should be able to cool quite a few watts. i am gonna try if i can fit 3 or 4 of the 200mm fans on the raddy but i doubt it:( this would be more than i need (hell, i dont even need the fans since this raddy should be able to passive cool my entire setup. but hey, it isnt overkill until something dies from it;) )

i hope to get some time to get sketches made today and update them tonight. so stay tuned for DnA!

Acey
07-23-2008, 06:32 AM
Hmm... so are you gonna passive cool and have loads of fans sucking air out of the rad? That would be fun if I have that rad hehe.

p0Pe
07-23-2008, 10:04 AM
well since im gonna put fans on it it isnt "passive" anymore:P and im gonna blow air through the raddy. if i pull it through the most part will be sucked from the tiny gab between the fans and the radiator, and dust would be imposible to get of, since it would stick to the side against the case

Acey
07-24-2008, 08:43 PM
That would suck... considering its such a cool rad but dust has to spoil it :(

p0Pe
07-25-2008, 11:32 AM
Sketches done!

I have made some files that I’m going to send to laser cutting soonest possible. I haven’t made any mounting holes to get the plates to sit on the case, since I will take a closer look at this when I get them. Possibly make them stick with something non-visible such as tape/glue etc. I hope to be able to get them painted blank black, and put some white light in there to shine the whole thing up, should look cool with the white fluid.

On to the sketches. I have made the sketches from these cardboards so it should be easy to see what belongs to where:D

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01257.jpg

And here is the final sketches.

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/sketch5.jpg

And a view of the top/rear fan covers. The think long line in the metal is where it is going to be bend to cover up the fan sides.

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/sketch4.jpg

It all lying down

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/sketch2.jpg

And wireframe from the top:)

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/sketch3.jpg

That was all for now. I will see if I cant get a hold on the dude who is going to cut the stuff, and see if I can find some sponsors!:D

All that’s left to say now is: have a nice weekend!

Great idea, especialy like the radiator. How heavy it is?
If you'r planing on mounting some fans on radiator i would suggest that u use 4x 120mm fans rather than 2x 140mm.

p0Pe
07-28-2008, 08:27 AM
the raddy is about 4 kg heavy.
i use 2*200 mm fans

My soldering skills = fail

Got the last filling on the res holder done

My workplace lol…
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01554.jpg

And cleaned:D
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01555.jpg

And as usual I messed it up after 30 mins;P
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01556.jpg

Got all the wholes drilled
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01557.jpg

And got the things drilled away that made the raddy a very tight fit… fits better now
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01558.jpg

Looks good:D
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01563.jpg

The dvd cover plate:D a damn nice fit!

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01574.jpg

The cables from the Leds. Don’t look that bad:D
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01575.jpg

And got some holes drilled and tapped for the cover plate.

And some more spacers:D
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01584.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01585.jpg

And light! Got it all rigged :D most of it:D
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01587.jpg

Only one led in the res´s atm and still lights up pretty good:D
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01588.jpg

Those plates look fantastic installed my friend. When you are soldering make sure the solder is touching what is getting soldered before you heat it up. I have found that this way works best because the solder instantly washes over the solder point, ideal for cables and such.

agreed, great work so far! As for the soldering, I'm no expert but it looks to me like the contact surface might not have been hot enough. The way my Dad taught me was to hold the iron against the surface and make a bead of molten solder to rest on the surface of the iron just next to the contacts. Then, when the temp is just high enough, the contacts will "suck up" the solder and form perfectly.

haha:P i might actually got some leds in spare;P

So… got some more laser cut parts and guess what?
Some fits, some don’t. measured once, twice and triple… hell.. I even quadro checked !

But this is what I got:

Loot
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01636.jpg

Can you guess what they are going to be used to:D ill show later

Along with the small parts I had another part made, because the other one I had didn’t fit well enough. (this is one of the parts that fits to the mm.! man I love when things turns out well

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01631.jpg

Got another back plate bend

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01634.jpg

Put in place:

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01667.jpg

And got the whole drilled for the led wire’s

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01644.jpg

Now back to these:

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01635.jpg

Taddaaa… got some of the hoses in place. This will look awesome with the fluid inthere!

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01645.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01647.jpg

This looked kinda messy:/

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01648.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01649.jpg

So moved it around to look like this:

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01652.jpg

The hoses has to end somewhere… in this case, under the res’s xD

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01655.jpg

And this is how it looks. The hdd loop is done, and is going to sit like shown in the pictures, and the gpu/cpu loop will go like, red pump (red impellar) – raddy – cpu – gpu – blue pump – res – red pump

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01660.jpg

After dark

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01661.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01663.jpg

Notice the little feature in the side of the front:P

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01664.jpg

Duo to this xD put another light in front. It looks awesome in the dark when the front is opened and closed!

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01665.jpg

thats about it! next up is paint xD... and some more parts.. when i get the last friggin parts remeasured 20 times to be sure... dont get it, they should fit:D

But that said it looks quite good

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01673.jpg

And now to put it in place and see how it looks

Wuhuu:D

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01735.jpg

And got these painted ;P

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01713.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01716.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01723.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01724.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/DSC01738.jpg

heh.. i actually thought about that and was quite hyped. then i came to think of it and the answer is: i cant
the controller runs on a 12 volt line from the psu:P wich requires to be off before it can be turned on:D off equals no power to the remote xDDDDDDD

thank you very much:)

so... i think i figured out what to do with the last remote channel.

fans!

only problem is that i arent actually sure if the controller puts out enough power to run all the fans
2*200 mm
2*140 mm
3*120 mm
(yeah... lots of fans lol...)

actually i hocked all the fans up to a spare psu together with the light last night, and DAMN they throw some air out of the case @ max! and makes about the same noise as a jet:P
but when turned to medium or low speed, the whole case is actually very silent! still, it would be awsome to could turn off all fans beside the ones in the psu´s:P

The boy 4rm oz
10-03-2008, 05:35 AM
I dunno if you could use the controller to mount the fans. However I do have an idea for you to contemplate.

I was thinking you could install one of those Scythe fan controllers to the top of the case. After having a look at the pics you are very pressed for room there. However you could mount a fan controller above the reservoir (in one of the empty drive bays) if you can find a fan controller than can control 7 fans lol.

would be a good idea. but as it is now, there isnt room for anything underneath the resevoirs:D the hoses inthere takes up 2 5.25 drive slots -.-

all i really needed was to turn off the fans if posible since all of the antec fans comes with a standard of 3 settings, low, med, high. and dont really give any noise at the low setting:P but a almost passive pc of this size would be neat:D

The boy 4rm oz

2*200 mm fans
2*140 mm fans
3*120 mm fans

3*pumps

mobo, gfx & and lights

water loops contains no less than

and... i f####d up.. the cpu block has a inlet and outlet.. guess what i misplaced?... yeah.. thats right.. got the loop filled and turned on the pump and a wierd sound came from the cpu block..
nothing else to do than to whine about my missery to a few people and then drain the loop, and start over:P luckyli it didnt took to long! so within no time i had the loop up and running again to discover ONE thing

2*18Watts pumps might be a tiny overkill:/

so i just ordered 2 koolance pump controllers, since the pumps are waaaayyy to strong:P

but. here we go with some pics:) theres alot since i just fired away with the cam:D there seems to be alot of dust on the mod lol... have to get on it with some cleaner;P

now how many inhere can brag about having a 190Watt quad core running passive cooled along with a 200W gfx at a temp of 30C ;P

did some temp tests

NOTICE that theese tests is with one pump running and no hdd cooling yet.

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/dna temp test.JPG

sadly i couldnt get the cpu under 31C :( but the second pump might help on that:P and if i took it down to stock speed it definetly would get it under i think:D

its currently running @ 2.8

imho its some nice temps:D but cant wait to see what they will end up with when all of the boubles is out of the system and with both pumps!

i dont get it why you did all that work and then just covered it up with that side panel. if i were you i would put a big ole window right there. i dont know if you planned to do that or not but it looks good. +rep.

thx man:) i didnt make a helluva big side window beacuse with my old mod i got tired of being able so see everything. i think its more stylish to have a little side window and that you have to get close to really see whats inside. the light and 2 res´s alone will attrack that attention, so that people would wanna come and have a closer look:) they are gonna think that it looks good on the outside, but if they look through the window, or i take the side panel of they are gonna go "wow" ;P

That is some really good temps, even as passive. Personally I would just keep the fans running at low or medium permanently.

well... its gonna end up like this:

140 and 120 mm fans at top and back are gonna be controlled by remote since they are the noisiest
200 mm fans on raddy are gonna run on low permanently
the 120 mm fan for the hdd radiator is also gonna run permenently to get a little air flow into the case. not much is needed since the passive cooled chipset really is the only beaf.

and with 200 mm fans running along with the other 2 120 mm thats gonna be permenetly (the other is the one in the psu section) the whole thing is as good as silent:P and i love it! just hope that the pump regulators will reduce the noice from the pump... im not that worried about preasure drop since its 2 18Watt´s pumps lol...
only think im not sure of at this moment is how much the xspc bay pump noises... but ill see soon;P

EDIT:

ill have the pump regulators tommorow, and then i will have the change of bleeding the system completely!
also i set some money aside for a new part i am dreaming:yellow: of

i dont know when next updates will be sadly:/ things are going a bit slow lol

p0Pe
12-22-2008, 10:36 AM
okay! a small update.

the reason that this mod has been on stand by for a while was beacuse the reservoirs leaked:( sadly...
it went so bad that fluid was going in between the plastik and the metal on the top, so had to find new reservoirs... only problem, they had to be 60mm in diamiter to fit in. and such reservoirs is hard to find
asked xspc if they could make costum reservoirs but sadly no.

so only thing to do:
1: make them myself.
2: fizzle around with some premade

i choose nr. 2

took 2 of the 150 ml xspc reservoirs and since they were 70mm in diamiter i had to cut away some. but only so they just fitted into the top whole:

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/Unavngiv23et.JPG

so i went ahead and killed the little buggers!

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0063.jpg

dismantle the old ones:( i loved them:( but cant use something that leaks -.- i thought about buyin a pair of new ones, but i just dont think that they can manage the preasure and passive temps, which i want to play a bit with :/

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0066.jpg

and here to show the leaky part:

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0067.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0070.jpg

and how it fitted (with a little violence with the dremel)

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0071.jpg

one down another one to go

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0072.jpg

im probertly gonna end up doing a litle cover plater to make a smoother "edge" between the res and the case top

with modyfied top (originally to wide)

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0073.jpg

light from the blue bouble light (think this is gonna look cool in the dark:D)

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0074.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0077.jpg

note that in theese pics fluid already has been filled in

so how its gonna look compared to the old. a big bigger and not transparrent but... ill survive.
and its alu i know, but i hope to be alright with the amount of anti corrosion fluid thats in lol

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/IMG_0083.jpg

i dont know when ill have the time to do the other one, but for now:

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG0625.jpg

Well.. on to the mod!

As you can see I already installed one of the new reservoirs. And I did not have the time to start on the other one since I knew it was going to be a b#tch to install
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG0945.jpg

Had to take the back plate of again. What a mess:/
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG0946.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG0963.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG0981.jpg

And a little neat feature I made on the raddy fan cover;)
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG0984.jpg

And a very very bad pic of how it turned out. I have a few plans on how to make a smooth erm… “melting”? between the res´s and the top. But that’s gonna be later:D
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG0978.jpg

I have talked with one of my friends about getting some nicer foto´s of the whole case, (he´s a camera geek) so I hope to get some better pics up soon:D

Don’t know how much I will be able to work on the case the next amount of time though… my car just broke and at the same time some sh#t f#ckers decided to break the rear and front window and steal my sound system:( but life goes on:D

There is a thread running that wants you to post up pics of your desk space, where you game. I think that's what DF means.

I tryid to take a few decent pics of the pc on the desk. On this on it actually looks quite standard except from the side window and the top res´s
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1050.jpg

And how it looks with the side panel off. I didn’t like the looks of the psu compartment, neither did I like the harddrive compartment so I decided to see what I could do about it

This was how it looked to start with
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1054.jpg

And after I worked a little with a black piece of acrylic
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1059.jpg

And gonna make another one for the hdd compartment… just have to dremel it into shape first:D
Like this:
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1060.jpg

Sooo… I wanted more light in the case as the single led strip wasn’t enough
Couldn’t find space in the case itself though:( the strips would either be to visible or to invisible!... so I mounted them on the side panel with a 3 pin fan connector so when I have to take the side panel off, I don’t have to cut it all up:P
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1066.jpg

Now I just have to get the wire that goes the remote control and find channel 2 on that one ó_ò
Luckily I remembered wich one it was;P sort of
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1067.jpg

A soldering station really eases things up lol!
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1068.jpg

Weight -.-
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1074.jpg

And some bad night shots:( I want to have some really god pictures taken soooo baaad! You cant see jack of the light on these ones:/
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1075.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1077.jpg

Okay.. this one sort of does it
http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1079.jpg

http://tosed.dk/billeder/DnA/CIMG1088.jpg

And some blurry overall pics:)

You want more lights? Why not get white LED fans? They usually are decently bright, but not too bright at the same time.

beacuse i wanted to be able to turn all light off:)

as it is now, the fans is remote controlled all except the raddy fans, and the fan in the hdd and psu compartment.
and light is too, so if i put led fans inthere there would be light whenever i turn the fans on, and since the fans are covered by plates, its limited how much led fans would light up:)

The lower compartment looks ten times better mate.

thx!

and yeah:D it gives a hole other look at it!

So couldn't you just take the leds from the fans, and re wire them, so that they are not being powered from the fan, and have them going to the same switch and power as the rest of your lights? I believe I've seen it done somewhere on here before, not sure where though.

p0Pe
01-30-2009, 06:28 AM
i could but you have to bear in mind that i have the cover plates infront of the fans, wich tottally hides the edge of the fan, wich is where most of the light would come from from a led fan. its a great idea if i hadnt used the covers but i didnt wanted any visible fans:D
