Had some fun drawing the window and drilling out some rivets, scrapped the PVC pipe idea because the size of pipe I wanted would have been too tall to fit in the case.

Top window: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/frogon/modding/IMG_0726.jpg

Magical 45 degree angles, I think this could look pretty sweet. But, what I really started looking at was the way the hard drive took up so much room in the case, so I'm attempting to fit it underneath the CD-ROM drive: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/frogon/modding/IMG_0727.jpg

Then I figured, why not draw out another window just incase I need some extra light: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/frogon/modding/IMG_0748.jpg . However, those little holes in the side totaly messed up the whole "45 degree corner" thing. So I decided to only have the upper left and bottom right corners angled, and the 2 others just be straight.

Any comments so far? I'll probably start cutting things within the next week, and probably finish that Hard drive\CD-ROM thing this weekend. I'm also going to paint the entire thing a flat black, maybe throw in some mesh and one or two (regular) fans.

hey looks good so far hopew it turns out good anyway i was wandering why u need to fit the hdd cage inside the cdrom cage? why not go out and buy one of those HDD silencer type things that fits into a standard cdrom bay anyway just a thought good luck with your mods. SaWBLaDe

I'm cheap? : P Also I figured I'd try it just for fun, and I'll probably put a fan there with some mesh in the front to cover up the CD ROM slots anyway, so this way I'd have some fun doing it... Though it would be alot easier just to buy one of those things, never really put much thought into those hard drive coolers anyway..

Is there a theme?

Are you going to paint it?

What's your cooling setup?

What are the system specs?

mmk then anyway good luck frogon tell us how the cage inside a cage goes lol :P. SaWBLaDe.

Of course there's a theme! its... blue and yellow : PP Actually, I really didnt put too much thought into anything more than painting and lighting. I'm planning to paint everything on the case black. Um... the specs.. heh... Pentium 3, 933Mhz, 384MB RAM, probably a 32MB graphics card I've got lying around. I figured I didnt actually need any cooling because its a pentium 3, but, I've thought about putting fans under the CD-ROM drive, and where the floppy drive goes, and covering that part with mesh.

I also plan to wrap all the wires in black wire loom, and maybe, if I still have money, put some small pipes on the motherboard, probably just randomly around it. I'm thinking like those little copper tubing that they sell at hardware stores, but something cheaper than copper.

Edit: Ok, a friend talked me into a slightly different idea. Instead of having a window, I'm going to put some mesh in it, but cut up the mesh and bend it outward. Then use all red LEDs, with a few blinking ones, and one or two yellows. Then for that side window, it'll be an actual window, with some mesh behind it that's ripped and bent a little. So basically now I actually have a theme, which is like, the monster P3 rips out of the case. rawr. : P

lol, blue and yellow are my school colors:P

I like the window, I'm a big fan of eccentric windows. Looks good, keep up the good work.

Finally time with a dremel, they own. I cut out the window, and fixed up the harddrive thing so it fits, and decided I would just drill holes and screw it down into the bottom of the case.

here's teh sweet jpgs:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/frogon/modding/IMG_0779.jpg <-everything packed up really nice.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/frogon/modding/IMG_0780.jpg <-harddrive hidden : )
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/frogon/modding/IMG_0778.jpg <-sweet window cut, still no glass or mesh.

Since its gonna be Thanksgiving, I'm trying to collect all the things I still need, like the glass, the mesh, the wire loom, and the LEDs. I'm not sure if I'm gonna buy any more fans, since I've got an extra fan I can use on the case, and really it doesnt need any. I'm also thinking about not cutting that side window and just let the light come out those holes that are already cut. I dont plan on painting until last, so I can worry about getting that stuff later.

For the window, I just figured I'd tape it to the bottom side, and tape the mesh down on the top side.

The window cut is looking good. You may want to take a file to a couple edges to smooth out the lines a little, but on the whole it looks very nice. Good work.

Yeah, I figured I should get around to doing that sometime, hopefully before I get cut : P

Thanks man! Hopefully this thing looks sweet when I finish it.

I got the wire loom and put it on along with a round IDE cable:

I'm working on putting the LEDs in and drilling the holes to secure the hard drive thing, which is working out pretty well without being attached to the case : )

I've got 10 red LEDs and I'll probably put 3 on all the sides of the motherboard, and put one near the heatsink. Then I'll get 2 yellow LEDs and put them in that mass of wire loom and have them blink, but hopefully flicker.

Also, I'm thinking about throwing some extra wireloom going from the CD rom drive to the bottom of the case, just for looks.

Looking good, but the wires are still awfully chaotic, in my opinion. Is there any way you can shorten a couple of the longer ones to run more direct routes, to simplify a bit of the clutter?

Yeah, I'm planning on moving one of those power cables down toward the other end of the case for the power to the LEDs, which will free up a ton of space. And I probably could tie wrap them together : )

Maybe you could even create an acryllic housing for them, that would go from the PSU to the drive cage, that would hide them all. You could drill out holes for the other cords to come out, and would considerably improve the overall "cleanliness" of the look there.

Just an idea. Things are looking good, and I'm not trying to be rude, jsut offering opinions. :)

lol thats a sweet idea! I never would have thought about that, and that'd clear up all the cables. Though, I've never actually worked with acryllic, I might do it, but make it out of mesh instead. If I get gutsy after I put in the window I might try and do that though, because that's a really sweet idea!
