Hey I'm very new at the whole water cooling thing, but I've been looking through the gallery here and I've become very inspired. But something I just don't see much of is red water cooling. So I wanted to try that.

But then I thought the red might not come up so well and UV red doesn't look as red, or as evil, as it could. So what I wanted to do was get a reservoir, a circular one similar to a Koolance 200mm Inline and make a hole right down the centre and put a second tube down the centre of the reservoir from top to bottom and have a neon in that.

Firstly, can it be done? Secondly, would the light it put out be sufficient? Any help and or ideas towards helping the red water cooling idea would be awesome.

Sounds like a good idea. I see no reason why this wouldn't work.
You could probably just buy two different sizes of acrylic pipe
. .and a piece of plexi to cut some circles out of.
Then cut rings out of the center and seal it up.

You have your smaller pipe in the center. And the larger diameter pipe surrounding it.
CCFL down the middle. You may want to use a router and circle jig to resess the area you plan to seat to the pipe in.

Dude.. is that a stack of CDs in a frame with a light in the middle? That's AWESOME! Genious, and simplicity at the same time!

I was also thinking you could cut a pipe into a crescent and use the cut out piece inverted so that you could use acrylic joiner and basically have a crescent or gibbous moon like look to it and then just epoxy in your cathode into the space you opened up making back into almost a circle.
