Exactly. Whenever I overclock my CPU at all, my hard drives don't show up at all. I believe all my specs are in the My System tab. Oh, and I have a 500W Thermaltake PSU.

See if you can unlock the MEM clock from the FSB clock. I've had similar probs on some boards in the past. :)

I think I can but it goes down to 667 instead of Auto. I'll still give it a shot, it shouldn't matter all that much.

The mem/fsb clock is locked on that board. I have the P5B-Deluxe.
try setting your dram timmings and voltage to the correct settings. Downclock the dram to 667 and you should be able to overclock the cpu untill the ram reaches 800 again.

Alright, thanks. I'll give it a shot later.

I haven't gotten around to it yet, been sick all weekend and have been sleeping a LOT. I'll try to get around to it later on today if I'm feeling better. Would've done it as I was booting up the compy but forgot, lol.

Hey, just tried it and it works! Thanks dude. I've got it at 2GHz right now and will push it a little further in a little while. :D

once you max out your ram, you'll have to underclock it to 5** in the menu before you can get the cpu any higher.
I had my cpu at 2.5Ghz stable. For a breif period i had it at 3.8 but it wasnt stable.

I've got it at 2.24Ghz right now and it's working pretty well. I'm happy with it here for now, not gonna have time for anything intense like gaming because school is starting.
EDIT: By the way, my onboard sound just died, have you had any problems like that with yours?

Are your drives SATA based? If so, look in your BIOS for SATA clock limiter settings. SATA controllers are fairly sensitive to overclocking. I even got corruption on my SATA drive through that. Just set it to triangular down or similar setting, and it should work fine. I have an nForce based SLI board. I think the ability to lock the SATA clock speed is down to the chipset.
I never had a problem with onboard sound. I took my 5200+ X2 from 2.6 GHz to 3.2 GHz with no problems. Stayed under 60 degrees c with stock air cooling ;). I did bust my onboard sound by plugging in my guitar amp to record in Audacity, but I turned the amp up too loud, there was a big screech, and the jack sensing software was going crazy, like I was unplugging and plugging in leads.

Yeah, they're SATA. Another friend of mine said to turn of SMART monitoring but that didn't help it, lol.
I'm happy with where it's at right now, but if I decide to push my CPU any further, I'll try what you've mentioned. Thanks.
I just pulled the cable out while it was on and the stupid thing died, lol. Just gives me further reason to upgrade my sound system in the future if I decide to. Right now college is my priority.

I wasnt impressed with the audio from day 1. There was allways a buzz even when the system volumes where turned off. I bought the Razer sound card and have never looked back :)
amd killa, are you using the nvidia raid controler?

I think that from now on when I build a system, it's getting a halfway decent PCIe x1 sound card. To hell with onboard anything, except maybe some of the newer ethernet and video cards... they seem decent.

I'm using the SATA ports, but only one as I only have one SATA hard disk.
