Need some product recommendations

A friend of mine is going Skulltrail, and as such, wants it to be liquid-cooled. We're not sure what case we'll be going with, but we've decided that, as the CPUs, possibly the chipset (does it need it?), and video cards (once the warranty runs out) will be cooled, we'll need at least a single 360mm (3x120mm) radiator. The processors are going to be 50w Xeons, 2.33 stock, but we're gonna overclock their cocks off (in his words), and he's got matching 8800GTs.

I have literally zero experience with watercooling, so I'm wondering:

-what waterblocks should we be using?
-how powerful a pump will we need?
-does it matter which tubing size (1/2 or 5/8 ) we use?

The 8800GTs are staying air-cooled until their warranty expires, but we'd like to have enough overhead that we can slip 'em in later on.

Reckon we could just adapt Spawn's suggestion (http://thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showpost.php?p=195524&postcount=2) for another watercooling newb?

ya, pretty much though you will need 2 of the dtek blocks, and i will warn you that with the clearflex 60 stuff the tubing clouds up after a while, but it can be cleaned out with a pipe cleaner. don't think you will need the Swiftech MC8800 Kit though, just ramsinks. but i'm not fully sure on that.

I would wait to see how the new Swiftech GTZ goes before buying the Fuzion Rev2. Swiftech claim it to be 8*c better on a Pentium D...8*C!!!

i would recommend the d-tek:D an amazing blok! with 19/13 mm hoses... thats a match

and then 2 ddc ultra pumps
2 360 radiators
and just run it all in one loop:) resistance wont matter as long as you got 2 ultra pumps lol..

and hey.. if you go skulltrail everything else has to be overkill to:)

Yeah, that's what we were thinking - he's got an interesting situation. His father works at an Ivy League university, which has contributed a significant amount of money to his "research fund". Unfortunately, my friend's dad has no other use for this - so he's agreed to let my friend build himself/his father an 'ultimate research computer'.

As such, price isn't really a concern here. ;) Thanks a lot for the tips - rep distributed - I'll show him the thread, see what he's got to say.

If price isn't a concern then go peltiers on both of the CPU's absolutely decimate a Fuzion V2.

It is a duel loop water cooled skulltrail with the northbridge, sli 9800GX2 and 4GB of RAM also water cooled.
Just have a look through the thread, it will give you some ideas on loop design and what to get if you want the best of the best lol.

Also as for the 8800GT's. As far as I am concerned replacing the stock cooler doesn't void the warranty on the card in most cases. I am going to have to say water cooling will but replacing the stock crappy cooler with a good Thermalright air cooler wouldn't. Most manufacturers understand that their coolers are crap and understand if you replace the cooler for better performance. You generally only void the warranty if you OC or damage the card while removing/installing the new cooler. Unless the card fries from a water leak 9/10 times you can replace the aftermarket cooler with the stock one before you send the card out for RMA without the manufacturer knowing.

if the prize is no concern this is what i would do:

buy 2 ddc ultra´s
and get 2 Koolance VID-279 for the gpu´s
get a d-tek fuzion v2
get 19/13 mm tygon hoses

and get 2 black ice pro 360 radiators

for the fitting i would go with koolance fittings. theese are the sweetest fittings i have ever dealt with! so awsome quality (and you need at least 4 for the gpu blocks beacuse of the short erm... tapping thingie, the whole you screw the fittings on to:D)

this would be like... an imba setup:)

and for the fans.. go for Noctua NF-P12
