Finally! I just received my Time Warner Roadrunner Internet Service today. It is BLAZING fast!
Even the setup service was blazing fast. The guy had from 8am to 11am to get here and set it all up. He got here at 8am on the dot and was out of here in under half an hour. Furthermore, it only took so long because he had to find the original cable line since the only one we had was a dead line (didn't go anywhere except into the wall). I wish he would come back so I could tip him!
In uTorrent I reached a download speed of 545kbps! While downloading legal torrents of course. ;)
So in the past year I went from...
35kbps (dsl) >>> no internet >>> 15kbps (cricket) >>> 545kbps (So far at least)
Yea, I'm pretty happy at the moment needless to say. lol

By the way, does anyone know of a good cable router box thinger mahjigger? The one we received with the service really isn't up to par for us. Its non-wireless and only has one Ethernet Port.
I've only ever had DSL before, so I'm not too sure whats good or what I should look for. Thanks for the input in advance! ^_^

I think you can get a wireless hub and hook it up to the cable router and there ya go, wireless.

Only if a USB one would work because it has that port too. But yea, this laptop doesn't have wireless at the moment and we want it connected through ethernet I guess, I don't really care, but they seem to be pretty adamant about it for some reason. Faster speeds I guess?
But if they make usb ones that will work in the usb port that would be pretty cool since its not being used.

I think someone makes USB-Ethernet adapters, but I'm not really sure. And by the way, most wireless hubs have ethernet ports on them too.
normally just look for a cable router with wireless inbuilt, you just plug the ethernet from the modem to the uplink of the router.
Setup the router via the web front end, its normally just a case of setting the wap password and stuff.
Plus good internet, i get 2.6MB Per second here! (Adverage that is, i have peaked at 3.2 for a few minutes before)

So you just get a wireless hub with extra ethernet ports build into it? Then plug it into the ethernet port on the router I'm guessing?
Also, what do I look for in newegg? I couldn't figure out which ones had cable ports or not. lol why can't they just say ethernet and cable instead of the technical names? ><

My dad had a hub that had both ports and wireless in it... I'll try and find one for you, lol.
EDIT: Looks like all of the ones on this page have ethernet ports. LINK (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2052810145%2050001413&name=LINKSYS) I can tell because it says it has LEDs for ethernet ports, lol. At least you'd hope it has them if it has LEDs on there, hahaha.

Wait a minute... can't I just take the ethernet cable and instead of plugging it into the computer, plug it into a wireless router?

I think so, yeah. lol

Yep. Be sure to unplug the power from the modem and then plug it back in. The change in MAC addresses from the computer to the router will confuse it. After that, it's just a matter of configuring you wireless router.

exactly. I currently have a netgear wgr614 that I picked up at Walmart when my linksys pooped out on me, story for another day. works great and like you were saying, cable to modem, ethernet to 'internet' port. File server, PS2 hardwired and laptop, wifes computer, my computer, DSes, PSPs and other various wifi items given WEP key and running with no real effort at all.
