Hello All,
Welcome to my new worklog for a case mod which is a commissioned build.
As part of my TAFE course I had to present an Oral presentation on a topic of my choice, Case Modding. After the presentation and
in the following weeks I talked to my mate from class about it and being a huge Daft Punk fan, he asked if I could do a Daft Punk
case mod for him. So here we are.
If you don't know who Daft Punk are, here you go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daft_Punk
Inspiration for this project has come from the helmets they wear
for their live shows which are full of LED's and all sorts of cool things.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/Daft_helmets_lg-770863.jpg
The Case chosen for this project is the new Antec Three Hundred.
Once the case had been chosen I then set out on a design.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/layout.jpg
The window will also include a cool LED chaser circuit to represent the side of one of the helmets.
Lets get started, here is the case.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04254.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04255.jpg
I then began to start dismantling it. :)
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04257.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04258.jpg
The dust filter removed from the front panel, won't be needing this.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04259.jpg
I then removed all the mesh, bay covers, switches and lights from the front
panel ready to be prepped for paint.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04260.jpg
A decal was also made up which will be used for the right side panel.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04261.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04262.jpg
And finally, some of the lighting which will be going into this case, all green.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04263.jpg
From my experience so far with this case, I can already say I love it, its
an awesome case to work with and I think a good base for any mod.

Remodeling the Top Panel
The top panel was not originally intended on being modded,
I was going to leave it stock, though this look did not match
what I was going for, So I am cutting out the centre of the
top panel and replacing it with red perspex with a black
silhouette decal of the two members of Daft Punk.
I began by removing the top panel by drilling out the 13 or so rivets which
held it on.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04321648x486.jpg
The panel was then free to be removed.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04324648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04327648x486.jpg
I then gave the piece of Red perspex I cut a test fit, perfect.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04329648x486.jpg
It was now time to mask up the panel so I could draw out my design
so I know where to cut.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04331648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04333648x486.jpg
Using a Rotary tool, I went through one and a half reinforced cut of discs to
cut the centre of the panel out.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04334648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04335648x486.jpg
I then removed the masking tape, and gave the perspex a test fit with some
Thick Rubber U Trim (http://www.gammods.com.au/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7_9&products_id=1169) from GAM Mods. I'll do a mini review of it in the next update when I install the perspex and apply the decal.

LED Lighting
Hey Guys,
I got the lighting circuit from "Goth" today, this will be the main lighting feature and the rest of the case will have a low green glow.
Here is the circuit with the 8 super bright LED's, consisting of 2 Red, 2 Yellow, 2 Blue and 2 Green which run of a 555 timer.

Window & U Channel
Hey Guys,
I did a bit of work today, I cut the Window and added some thick Black
U-Channel Edge Moulding (http://www.gammods.com.au/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7_9&products_id=1169) from GAM Mods which is good for things such as
windows and how I've used it on the top panel as it works as a feature
though I wouldn't recommend it for fan holes as it is a little too
thick.
I started by masking up the panel and drawing out my design, I then
used the rotary tool to cut the window.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04345648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04346648x486.jpg
I Then removed the masking tape and installed the U trim.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04347648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04350648x486.jpg
I also did installed it on the top panel.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04348648x486.jpg
Hopefully I can install the perspex for the top panel and apply the
decal tonight and have an update.
Cheers

Fans & Decals
So today, The fans arrived from PC Case Gear, so I installed them into
the front panel. Antec's design for this case is very good, each of the
two 120mm fans on the front of the case fits inside its own little compartment.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04353648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04354648x486.jpg
The compartment can be removed by unscrewing two thumbscrews.
Once removed the 120mm fan can be easily fitted.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04355648x486-1.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04356648x486.jpg
The the fans fitted inside the compartments were then fitted
back onto the case and the wires fed through the holes Antec
had made which lead around to the side of the Hard drive bays
where cable straps are fitted.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04357648x486.jpg
This smart design by Antec allowed me fit the fans and neatly
route the cables in under 5 minutes. I really like this case.
I then applied the decals to the side and top panel, the side
panel logo was applied and then the top panel decal was applied
the perspex which will be fit into the top panel later on.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04360648x486.jpg

Finishing the Top and Front Panels.
Well, I have now glued the perspex into place on the top panel.
Once the glue was dry I pop riveted the panel back into place.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04362648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04369648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04370648x486.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04371648x486.jpg
When using the pop rivet gun, I taped up the edge of the panel
so I didn't scratch the paint with the gun as it kicks forwards when
the rivet is popped.
I also put the front panel back together, which included
screwing in the mesh, putting the stock switches back in
and put the 5.25" drive bay covers in.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04373486x648.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04374486x648.jpg
The front panel was then reattached to the case.
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04367486x648.jpg
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h148/slamaa/Daft%20Punk%20Case%20Mod/DSC04366648x486.jpg
All I have to do now is glue the clear perspex onto the window
panel and install the lights and this case is done, Hopefully it'll
be done by Friday.

This is a very very good, understated mod. It looks like it could be stock, or a premod, which says a lot for build quality, and it does not distract like some over the top mods. If I could give you more rep on this thread I would.
