Drum Thumper

I'm in the midst of rebuilding it with Drupal, per OvRiDe's suggestion (the same CMS software that we're using here for the front page). There's not all that much to look at at the moment, other than the fancy rotating banner at the top.
However, as I add more to the site throughout the next few days, I would like some feedback from the community here.

You can either reply to this thread or shoot me an email at joe@drumthumper.net.
Thanks guys!

Thanks for the link back to TBCS!
Here are some areas that could be improved IMO,
-Though I LOVE the car pic in the rotating banner, I think the mountain shot is of too poor quality and jacks with the over all look of the page. Try to get all of the pics you use in the banner as similar in quality/res so they seam better.
- I think the "drumthumper.net" logo could use some refinement
-the photo gallery stretches horizontally off the side of the page, it would be more fluent if you used a different plug-in that tiled them in columns down the page instead of across the horizontal margins.
It does look cool though

I agree about the mountain pic--it's gonna be gone real soon.
I'll play around with the logo and see if I can come up with something better.
The gallery ap is very versatile--I'll play with the settings some. You must have a regular screen, cause on my wide screen it looks perfect.
Thanks for the feedback, Jon.
Lookin good Joe. I'm still using joomla on sgtmsystems. +rep

Alright Jon (and anyone else for that matter), check out the pictures tab now. It looks good on my 22" widescreen, but some more feedback is greatly appreciated.
Oh, I'm also working on the logo some more. Its very hard to achieve a nice balance between the pics and the logo--I definately do not want the logo to overpower the banners, but rather compliment them.
Looks good to me. I'm on a 22' wide also, but I resized my browser window.

I think the images look much better now, damn that car is sexy! One thing I forgot to mention earlier is I think the site would benefit from a "home" link. I realize that the logo is one, but not everyone will. I know what you mean about making the text "just right", I struggle with that more than anything else when I do the front page banners and worklog headers. Sometimes it just takes running the gamut until you've eliminated everything that just doesn't fit.

A home link is easy enough to do. I'll add that later tonight. In fact, I'll take my lappy with me so I can do it whilst laundry is getting done. Myles has had a bit of a rough day (some serious spit up, gas, and he didn't think much of mommy changing him--needless to say, we're washing the comforter for the bed, along with his clothes lol), so we're off to see Grandma and Grandpa. Thankfully, that's just across town.

Here's what's done so far:
Deleted that mountain banner Jon was talking about.
Created a new logo, please lemme know what you think of it, as I have a few different ones.
Installed the image module. Works a helluva lot better than Gallery 2 in terms of bridging (I think that's the word I'm looking for). However, I am leaving Gallery 2 in place, as I have a few family members who want pictures printed out. Gallery 2 offers such features via shutterfly.
Implemented a Forum.
Wrote a quick page about computer modding.
Wrote a quick "About Us" page.
I've still got a few things to do--some minor (like a favicon), others not so minor (taxonomy). But not too bad for a day's work, so to speak.

I don't seen any pictures from the bachelor party.... must have been great. Seriously though looks good, i don't see any constructive criticism that I can throw at you.

Those pictures are not up due to the fact that I didn't have a bachelor party lol.
Like I stated (and I'm sure that OvRiDe will agree), I'm down to the boring stuff--taxonomy. Although it's pretty damn cool now that I understand how it works. A lot of keystrokes, but it will make the whole site flow much smoother, along with making it easier to maintain.
