I brought a spare pump from Novatech to work standalone. They told me it would too. The problem I'm having is that there is only one hole in it, which I think is the output. Does this mean that I need to put this pump in my resivoir? Or partly submerged in my resivoir?

(bad spelling, I've had 10 hours sleep in the past two days)

EDIT: I got in contect with Novatech and they said to return it, as it probably wont work. Us modders laugh in the face of products not designed for other tasks. I think I know how this pump works now that I have seen the manual for the reservator. I was thinking of running this off a molex, surely a pump must be DC, or it wouldent turn? The pump is designed to be submersable in the resivoir, so I will have to make a custom resivoir for it to fit.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that the reserator pump must be submerged in order to run. The upside is that it's quieter that way.

Yea, I thought it had to be submerged after looking at the diagrams on how to replace the pump in the reservator. Didnt think about it being quieter though.
