Hi all,

I have a notebook cooler runnig off of a USB port on my laptop but 5V just doesn't cut it as the thing's rated to 12.

I don't want to go THAT high, but 7 or 8 would be nice...

USB port only have access to 5V. With a laptop you have 3 options. Keep running @ 5V. Hook it to the DC comming in from the power pack (only works when plugged in). The last one run it off of a 9V battery (downside you'll need to buy stock in energizer or duracell if you use your laptop allot)

Good luck!

Ah - never thought about the battery one - good idea!

I'll run a few tests to see how feesable it is time vs cost-wise... :)

also if you pump up the power on hte 5v rail on the USB line. Then you will be killing everything else that you have that is USB.

Other types of batteries that might last longer are the RC car batteries. Wont make me as much in the stocks (Buy Duracell) but they are a bit more customizable if you put it together yourself.
