I've used nero for ages but recently it's not been working on my desktop and i've tried different versions all producing the same error.

What happens is that it transcodes the full film then when it goes to burn the write-in, it fails and an error file is created....

I'm thinking it has something to do with this (section of error logfile) -

[11:43:05] NeroVision Burn process started at 20x (27,700 KB/s)
[11:43:06] NeroVision Book Type automatically set to: DVD-ROM
[11:43:06] DVDEngine BEGIN: VMGM_VOBS - Write
[11:43:06] DVDEngine ...RBP=0, count=8,609,792 bytes
[11:43:06] DVDEngine ...succeeded
[11:43:06] DVDEngine END: VMGM_VOBS - Write
[11:43:06] DVDEngine BEGIN: VTSTT_VOBS#1 - Write
[11:43:06] DVDEngine ...RBP=0, count=1,073,739,776 bytes
[11:44:21] NeroVision Write error
[11:44:21] NeroVision D: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203N
[11:44:22] DVDEngine ...succeeded
[11:44:22] DVDEngine END: VTSTT_VOBS#1 - Write
[11:44:22] NeroVision Generating DVD high compatibility borders
[11:44:22] NeroVision Illegal disc
[11:44:22] NeroVision D: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203N
[11:44:22] NeroVision Could not perform end of Disc-at-once
[11:44:22] NeroVision Burn process failed at 20x (27,700 KB/s)

if anyone knows how to fix this problem then i'd much appreciate the help.

thanks,
Davie

Can you burn anything else? Even CDs with the microsoft burning wizard.

have you tried any other software to encode your dvd? try cyberlink's Power Producer, thats what i use, no errors yet.

Don't use the "Disc at once' feature.

I would try some different software and/or reinstall Nero Vision.
I would also click on the options to test burn verify and the data before burning to the disk.
You may want to consider buying a new drive. They are dirt cheap nowdays.

It looks like it tried to burn at 20x right away, the first thing I would do is try reducing the speed to either auto or 8x. If that works then you may have some bad media.

Are you "cloning" a dvd? If so, it could be copy protection throwing that error at you.

its cool, i managed to fix it. I had to use wininquiry to see if i had the current firmware for my samsung drive. a new version came out last month. i download that and it let me burn fine. ive never had that before.
