I'm sick of people coming into the store and at the last minute leaving without a purchase because the box has a ding or a small hole. It's a frickin' box! The product is fine inside. Printers, for instance, have tons of styrofoam keeping them very safe from falls and holes alike.
I swear I would love to say: It's just a damn box! You're probably going to throw it away anyhow!

It is pretty stupid for something like a printer or computer, or a piece of furniture or appliance. Those boxes are going to get holes and other imperfections.

store policy should be only give a new product if the product itself is messed up, if it's just the box then they can only get a refund.

You may want to have a chat with the delivery man.
Tell him to stop moving the boxes with his feet.

They come on pallets, some 7 feet tall. Bottom feeders often get crushed

LOL.. you could swap the contents into a new box right in front of them. Hahaha

You should give them a crappy product for the same price as the product with the imperfect box. Then when they ask why it is so expensive, you can point out the value in having unmarred cardboard.

This is insanely frustrating. I work at the Big W that everyone loves to hate. Our shipments come in on giant pallets. The stuff is obviously stuffed on to a truck as tightly as possible. When it comes off... well i watch the way some of our associates throw stuff around (can't say im always gentle w/ the merchandice myself, but i try not to damage stuff.) To put it simply, the boxes are gonna get beat up. Don't ask me why this grill has a hole in the box, it came that way, they ALL came that way. Now if you see something that looks like it has obviously been retaped... you should ask questions about that, odds are it was opened at some point in time. We open stuff all the time. Anyway, the stuff comes packed in so much styrofoam that unless you see something sticking out of the box, or its making a strange rattling sound, Odds are its fine. And hey, if not, Walmart takes anything back.

I was thinking about this thread yesterday. We got in some LCD monitors last week before we moved, and several of them came in damaged boxes. Out of 10 damaged boxes, 4 monitors were busted or scratched. We took pictures notified the delivery drivers (at the time they dropped them off) and had them note it on the delivery screen.
We contacted the vendor and got RMA numbers for the 4 damaged units and sent them back. They were rejected by the vendor because the boxes were damaged (duh) and had been re-taped. We explained that we had to open them and verify that the monitors worked or not, according to their instructions, and then repackaged them. We ended up having to have the sales guy contact his sales guy and they worked it out. Let's see if they reject them again...
