After seeing those screenshots and videos (especially the calculator), I'm actually a little excited!

I can't get too excited because it looks too much like Vista. The thing that bugs me about Vista is the fact that the UI looks mostly like XP. MS said that the interface would be as revolutionary as Windows 95 was to 3.1. The interface was more evolutionary than revolutionary. I guess that might be a good thing because it decreases the learning curve for the new OS.

The thing is, I like the Vista interface, this improves things a little. As for it being revolutionary, I agree, it built on XP's interface, just put a new look to it.

you can go back to classic mode anyway which looks like XP. I wish you could do that with Office 07, the ribbons make me want to hurt someone.

I like Vista's interface also. I'm not 100% sold that Windows 7 go over with everyone that doesn't like Vista. I don't like that it's slow if you have the flashy features turned on or if you have a system with lower specs. Other than that I really think Vista is a great OS you just need to have the computer to run it. Maybe Windows 7 will remedy that, and if it does they will win most Vista haters over, if not, they gain some people who just didn't like Vista because of what they heard but those who don't like it and have used it will still not like it.

i never knew you could make vista look like XP (Asin Luna) i knew you could still set it to classic mode (WHich i use when i've got vista installed)

hell i even turn all the flashy stuff on XP off and switch back to classic mode.

I'm not a Vista hater, I'm just kind of disappointed that it wasn't the revolutionary change I was expecting. I really wish that they would have adopted some of the Unix/Linux features like multiple workspaces. I know that they have a "powertoy" download that does this, but it would be nice if it was built into the OS. The implementation of the download isn't as nice as Linux.

The lack of multiple workspaces is disappointing. I installed Ubuntu onto my slower com and it is faster than XP with more features. Vista is slower still. If they didn't make it faster more features that other OS offer would've been nice.

As far as I know, Windows 7 has a new efficient core. But ultimately, we'll just have to wait a see what happens. As for multiple workspaces, it's not really a bother for me, handy, but not THAT needed. Most users aren't going to use it, and for those who want it, they can use that power-toy.

As for Office 07, after getting used to it, I like it. Although I do wish you could use a classic mode.

There's a THIRD PARTY addon that you have to pay for. I was more complaining that there was nothing built in :P
