Alright, I have a complicated one for you guys. Yet another question...

Heres what I want to do:
I want to install windows (XP probably) onto an 8GB flash drive. Then what I want to do is I want to make a boot disc that the BIOS of most computers will recognize.

Heres the tricky part; How do I get this booted-disc to boot off of a removable storage device such as my 8GB flash drive w/ windows installed?

Thanks,
Indybird

I'm confused.. you want to install XP to a flash drive, then have a boot CD that redirects to the usb drive?

Why not just boot from a cd? Look up BartPE

bartPE does have its advantages, but one main drawback is its a read only OS, i think i know what you mean indy,

Basicly i don't think there is a simple way of doing what you want, there are a few boot discs out there which can do it, maybe look into arconis, that has a boot manager you can load onto a cd and then it scans all your devices, looks for an os/something that can boot and gives you the option to boot from it.

not sure if it will do what you want but you have nothing to lose but a few hours of your time.

Most modern BIOS will boot directly from a USB device, so you really wouldn't need the CD in the first place.
