I applied for a Firedog job at a Circuit City near me, and was wondering if anyone works/has worked for them or has done business with them. My interview's Friday.
Nothing to add on Firedog, but best of luck on the interview. Hands on experience can only be a positive thing.

Heard they're just as brainless as Geek Squad. Maybe you could bring some real world knowledge to the place

Good luck with the interview. Glad that someone that actually has computer knowledge and skills is going for one of those jobs. ;)

Thanks guys, my real actual goal is to hop into better pay; I can't stand to hear about all these clowns in college getting over 20 an hour and do jack ****.

I think that a lot of those places purposely don't hire people knowledgeable about PC's, because dummies can be trained to sell/believe anything.

I did not make more than $8 per hour when I was in college. However, now that I have my degree, I turned down a job that offered me $25 per hour.

I have 2 degrees and I can't do better than $10/hr. It must depend on where people live

What kind of degrees do you have?

... I work at Geek Squad .
I was on the sales floor for a while and they needed me more over in our (very understaffed) precinct. I can handle making $8.50+ an hour(I just got a raise so I don't know the exact amount) as a 16 year old. Not to mention the actual "real world" training, and the fact that I get to do something I enjoy. Sure as hell beats McDonalds, my old job.
BTW Mitternacht, good luck with the interview!

@TGS: If you were to have a Bachelor's or higher, you would most likely be offered better pay.

Bachelor degree in CIS would help. Even though I have a BS degree, I was unemployed for quite a while. My time of unemployment taught me how to be a salesman. It takes a whole different skill set to sell yourself to a company than what you learn in college to do your job.
You have to project confidence in your abilities. You have to do extensive research for the company you are going to interview with. You have to ask questions that demonstrate that you did that extensive research on their company. And you have to wear a suit if you are going for a white collar job that makes more than $20 per hour.
