As part of my ongoing upgrade project in my computer room, I decided to add another monitor to the set and add a stand to the array, I'm wanting something like the picture below ... but not for $500-600, I was thinking I could do a DIY one possibly. But I'm not really sure how to get started with this one. Any thoughts?

Essentials are the bottom three, and middle top monitors. The outer top monitors are not necessary, and would likely not be used (would just tempt me into buying more monitors I don't need)

Dimensions of the monitors: x4 22 inch Widescreens.

The best way to go about it would be to build something similar in design.
The stability of the stand is critical and should defiantly be made of metal. I would recommend 3" solid round bar or pipe, stainless or otherwise. Then you would need to thread the end of the bar, and base plate, Or weld them together.

If you would like the stand to be height adjustable you could run one pipe
down the center of another, drill a hole every 1" or so and run a bolt through it.

I would also recommend purchasing some plain LCD wall mounting brackets and attaching those to the cross section with some clamp on U-Brackets.
