Ok im going thinking about buying a new gpu and was wondering what brands do you recomend, im looking at the 9600's 512mb. I don't know if brands vary in Australia to other countries.

I've always liked Sapphire for some reason.

Unless you are talking about the actual GPU manufacturer, then I like nVidia more than ATi.

I would go for an EVGA version of the 9600. If not EVGA, then XFX. They are factory overclocked, and they have like a lifetime warranty on them (i'd check first), and I think the warranty covers overclocking and water cooling. But, like I just said, I would make sure if you are relying on that. On the other hand, most people here don't care for warrantys (until things go wrong)

Unless you're in the US, I wouldn't recommend EVGA, XFX is good here though :P

My PNY 8800GT hasn't been bad, although a factory overclocked card would have been nice. I always have to manually turn up the fan speed when I play a game.

I'd say xfx or bfg, not a big fan of pny personally. Seen one too many of those go up in smoke.

Before I start spouting, what did you want to spend?

Did you see my thread in Hot Hardware Deals for the XFX 9800? (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?p=209676#post209676)
