What do you think the best way is to make cracks in plastic big enough for LED light to shine through.
Not sure what you're asking. Can you elaborate on what you're trying to do?
If it's simulating cracks in plastic as part of a mod theme. I'd likely use a jeweler's saw to make very thin, jagged cuts and then enlarge them with thin files and sand paper at the ends to simulate spreading cracks.

The best way to get natural looking cracks, would probably be to make the cracks natural. Hit the plastic with a hammer (not hard)

Well see the plastic still needs to be strong as is. So if I was to hit the plastic... I don't think the cracks would be as accurate. I was thinking of maybe using a dremel with a small blade on the end. But I like your suggestion, Mach... so I will just experiment.
I ask because I've seen etching on the back side of plexi that resembles cracks and leds are used to set off the effect.

Maybe, so you won't have to break the plastic, get clear plastic, and paint over it and put tape down for cracks and when its done, the led's can shine through the areas that are paint-less.
