I want to create a web site using Joomla. I like the way everything looks and have basic html knowledge. Every time I look for a tutorial or just some basic how to I don't get anywhere that makes sense. Does anybody have any good tut sites that would get me moving along?

Heh, I did, and then I decided not to renew my domain name . I can have something up after school though.

That would be great. Take your time though not in a huge hurry.

Still trying to figure out why my desktop and laptop were the only 2 computers in the world that could connect to the site.

Your username and password have been PM'd to you. I made you a super admin. I don't have anything on that site worth anything so feel free to do whatever. Write articles, download/install modules or components and site templates. Test it out.

I just started with Joomla today, and WOW. I'm sold.

It's pretty cool stuff. For some reason though, it's not letting me add any users.. I've never had this problem. Oh well, if all else fails, Bopher can use my account.

Ok, so I left an email with our head tech guy yesterday about setting up Joomla on our website. Basically I wanted to make sure he wasnt opposed to it or that it would interfere with anything he was doing on the webspace (he's hosting some files on there also).

He emails me back today, saying, "No problem, I've just uploaded Drupal 6.5 for you, but dont start editing anything on there just yet."

Umm.. Joomla, not Drupal. So now I'm looking into Drupal.. *sigh* 2 whole days of prep and reading/experimenting with Joomla might be down the toilet.

Drupal for the WIN!!! No offense to those of you that use/like Joomla, but Drupal is way more versatile then Joomla. But on the flip side to unlock the versatility it can have a learning curve. There are some pretty big hitters using Drupal, of the likes include, SonyBMG, Ubuntu, Yahoo, and TBCS. There are tons of modules available at Drupal.org, and plenty of videos tutorials, and regular tutorials availabe.

Here is a nice one on going completely custom with it..

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Luke, I tried working with Drupal once - it felt like I was wading through thick mud in an Easter bunny costume carrying father Christmas and the seven dwarves on my back.

It also offered less off the shelf integration with other packages than either Joomla or Mambo at the time. I'd ask about Joomla again.

I already did, and have successfully managed to get it online and working. I'll post a link to my finished site once it's live, but for now it's still strictly deveolpment.
