i'm thinking about replacing my abit av8 mobo. i want to get a new mobo with a pci express slot and also a new graphics card to fit that slot. heres my question: with ati cross-fire, or something, can i use both my older ati radeon 9600 (agp) together with a new pci express graphics card? thoughts?

Nope. The only way to currently run multiple graphics cards is to use an SLI mobo, and even then you must use identical cards.

I hope im not jacking the thread by askin this but i suppose the original question has already been answered and i dont realy want to go making another thread!

Is it possible to use 2 Agp cards together?
I just got a geforce 6600GT and was wondering if it would be possible for me to buy a new motherboard and another 6600GT and run them together?
Would this double my gaming ability? I dont know anything about it heh
Cheers

Onelegout, no, you can't use two AGP cards together. No, SLI does not double your "gaming ability". In benchmarks, SLI shows only marginal improvements.

marginal? 20-40 percent is a bit more than marginal, plus with sli you get more aa options, making it look much nicer.

public_eyesore, I meant "marginal price to preformance" gains. As in, you pay about 3 times the money for SLI then you do if you were to buy just a single high-end card. So that's like a 300% increase in cost (when considering the two SLI enabled cards & SLI enabled motherboard) and only a 20-40% increase in preformance. Besides, you can run current games just fine without SLI. Get what I'm saying?
