Morning all!
Well, now that I have a decent spec computer, I feel that it is finaly time to begin my first case mod. My current case is a stock case, and although i love the look of it, I realy dont think that it deserves to be called a modded case, as I have not changed anything apart from adding a few lights and speakers. So here we are, my first mod begins!

I do not have a particular theme in mind for this, but I will be basing it around a colour scheme of black, blue, and red. The case itself will be fan cooled. Heres what I have in mind:

2 Blue UV fans with mesh grills on the side.
2 blue UV fans with plexy grill on the front bezel
blue Temps/power/reset/HDD screen on the side (I have my pc sideways on my desk and leaning round to turn it on is SO annoying)
UV Cold Cathode lighting inside
small window over my mobo and my thermaltake beetle cpu cooler.
Im Thinking of experimenting with a UV-reactive stencil on the window in clear uv reactive paint.
black paint job (Inside and out, but if i can get my hands on a can of MTN Alien poltergeist (REALY high quality spraypaint, UV reactive.) I am going to paint the inside with a VERY thin coat of it, so that it is barely visable in normal light but lights up under blacklight)
Flat front bezel with no buttons just fan speed controls
LAN hub/router on the side of the case, fitted flush into the side.
cd r/w fitted verticaly coming out of the top of the case

I will post pics when i get home!
Anyone got any other ideas?
Peace
H

And secondly, a quick photoshop mockup of what it should look like when im finished.

Front bezel:

The Netgear hub/router:

I should be cutting the case in the next few days (got to find someone who will lend me a dremel!)

******* 02/12/05 **********

So today I spent ages on the phone to various uncles and family friends trying to find someone who had a dremel they could lend me, to no avail. Then, I suddenly thought 'wait a second, it's plastic, so it must melt easily....'

So I got to work, heating my stanley knife over a gas cooker and cutting my case like a hot knife through butter! I then sanded it all down, first with realy corse sand paper then with realy fine stuff, and it is REALY smooth. I am very pleased with how it came out considering the fact that I did the whole thing without any proper tools!
pics will come once I have finished cutting the side and the bezel!
Peace
H

Im also thinking of doing some of my stencil graffiti on it, though that will be hard to get a good finish with... what do you think?

To me it seems so busy, yet at the same time there is too much unused space. Play around with your shapes and spacing, but this looks like it will be both fun wo Do AND to watch you do. :) I must have drawn 50 cases before I settled on my current idea for Julia, and I'm still figuring out the finer details. I like the idea of a LAN Hub in the side!

I agree that there seems to be too much unused space, but I have spaced it out so that you wont be able to see the UGLY psu and drive trays or whatever theyre called! Im thinking about doing some kind of light feature with engravings on acrylic for the top of it at a later date, but for now, im sticking to this design :D

As for the bezel, I cant decide what to do with the space where the cd drives usualy go!
for the bottom half of it though, I plan to cut holes in a sheet of UV blue plexy (that is currently a REALY crappy door thign for my current case) for fan grills using a laser cutter. the UV blue fans would then be bolted directly into the plexy like this

Hi everyone! I havn't been here in a loooooong time, it seems like the forum has got WAY more busy since!
Anyway, Here's some pics of where my mod is at currently, tell me what you think!
I found that the case was too small for the cooler when i put a window in it, so I have just ordered a new zalman 120mm superflower cpu cooler, has anyone used these before? are they any good? I also bought a seagate barricuda 80gb SATA HDD, and a second uv-blue case fan, so I will re-post pics tomorrow hopefully with the fans, and new hdd installed!
