Everyone. and i mean EVERYONE has played, or at least heard of, the hit Valve game Portal.

and though this idea isn't exactly the first, but maybe one of the more complete ones. everyone has designed, or at least attempted to make a PC case and keyboard like the ones seen in the Aperture science labs. Well, I'm taking the idea a step further.

I want to make a full gaming station just like the one in the game!

This includes a keyboard, mouse, and chair, and if I can scrounge up the cash, a case too!

The ones I am working with are perfect in shape and will only require some color!

from here on out, I tihnk i'm gonna let the pics do the talking.

My ideas!

Simple-ish right? Sure.

But these are off the "workstations" right? Well, I want to make my own spin off of some of them for gaming stations!

At this time, my mouse is already done! i've got pics of it and the pics of what it was, and how it became what it now is, but they're on my phone, which has no way to interface with my PC. (all my USB ports are full :( )

As of now, the project is a bunch of desktop stuff and spray paint cans and bondo...

But I have mostly everything i need to make this thing come to life!

I've got a similar shaped keyboard, a similar mouse, and the exact chair as the one pictured.

However, as i stated a few too many times, i'm not making a workstation exactly like that one. I wanna make this unique and all my own!

a few subtle changes are what i have in mind.

I'm using some Compaq Wireless 5-button mouse which suits the design of that one, only with the gaming-necessary (in my opinion) five buttons, and a futuristic-looking touch to it.

The chair is completely identical in form. 5 legs on the bottom, a height-change lever on the right side, no arm rests, but is totally black. Some paint and upholstery are in order!

The keyboard i'm using is from an eMachine PC which i no longer like/use. Also similar in shape and key layout.

What I Want To Change

On the Mouse:
I want the logo to be the light blue color you see between test chambers in the elevator.
For those who don't know this color, this is what I'm talking about

Pretty right? I think so. :)

I also want this color on the back, circular object on the back of my chair, as well as the cushioning parts.

With my keyboard, it gets pretty simple too. I want to, instead of the pretty much random layout of the off-colored keys on the keyboard, I want to make the key gaming keys into the same light blue I have in mind.

Sadly, This is all I have for pics right now.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get a digital camera or figure some way out to get my pics to you guys here!
It's pay day tomorrow, so things are looking up! :)

I like the idea. It's good, and a nice way to interpret from the game instead of just copy. I'll +rep you when I'm allowed again.

Thanks a bunch! I'm really excited, and really proud of how my mouse turned out.

last night I accidentally cracked the back of my chair so i bought some bondo to (hopefully) fix it and make it nice and smooth.

But I need advice on how i should do the logo on the mouse. should i paint it, or is there a company that makes custom vinyls or various things like that?

I say paint it, will be more rewarding to do it yourself plus you can use the techniques elsewhere.

Well all, it's been a while since i've gotten on this project, and i've got some good news!

I recently bought a camera and did a bit of work on my chair and can show the half-baked mouse. the keyboard though, I haven't quite dabbled with.

Now, I'll let my pics do the talking.

The back of the chair. There was a black piece of plastic covering which was all bumpy and gross. i removed it and am currently working on bondoing it nice and smooth. Also, it needs to be white.

I'm thinking about making the fabric the light blue color as the logo above. it'd look nicer and be a lot easier on the eyes. Also, all of that black needs to be white.

My mouse! Once upon a time, it was that sick beige color. the black part is that rubberized stuff and the white could be a little more smooth. over the top i want to put that blue logo and then lots of clear coating on so it shines :)

Any suggestions you might have would be awesome!

I'll keep working if you guys keep looking :D

Nice. I want to do a chair mod too when I get around to the rest of my Aperture Science machine. Looks great!

This should be interesting.
You could have have the circular design embroidered
onto the fabric you plan to use on the chair headrest.

Great idea!
it would be really cool.
I'm alo debating about changing the color of the fabric to white, and then i could have any color embroidered that i choose. However, it might be tricky doing it.
The circular back piece is what concerns me. the part where, on the chair, has the logo on it.
I was thinking of using a clock, or even one of those push lights and put in blue LEDs to give it a cool effect.
