The classics never die, but some do inspire resurrections. TBCS member “The_Crippler (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/member.php?u=7789)” is an old school horror flick fan and as such he chose to pay homage to one of his favorite classic horror films “Night Of The Living Dead” on it’s 40th anniversary. His custom designed case mod brought new life to an old chassis and his dusty Packard Bell case rose from the grave to walk among the living and eat brains... The case’s original design suited his plan based on its texture, internal space, and a handsome bordered base to frame the scene. He stripped the case down to its bony skeleton and modified the frame to mount an ATX form factor motherboard and built a whole new back panel. Next he designed an extended base crafted from aluminum angle stock miter-cut to house the power supply underneath the case. The case suffered from multiple lacerations as he gnawed his way through the front panel for a fan mount and a gaping wound to the side panel which would later proudly display a back-lit transparency from the old movie poster, a damned fine touch I might add. The other side of the case as well as the drive bays would be gutted and covered up with wooden planks, you know, just like the ones you use to board up the windows when you need to keep the zombies out. But what would a horror film inspired, Halloween mod be without a severed limb? That’s right, a bloody, hacked from the wrist hand is mounted from the inside and appears to me groping through the planks to the external surface of the case (Intel inside, brains out there…me want brains!). The next step was to construct broader base to serve as the foundation for the case, a burial site for the cleverly mounted optical drive, and to be modeled on the surface as a surrounding cemetery complete with fences, turf, and gravestones. The finishing touches were then applied including my personal favorite detail, a bloody handprint on the roof! This mod was a big hit with the ghoul gazers and modders alike, start your Halloween off right by strolling though The_Crippler’s nicely written worklog and pay your respects to the dead while you’re there!

Happy Halloween!
