Am I the only one who can laugh at the Saw series but leaves a movie like that terrified; ready to tear the battery out of my cell phone and never connect to another IP address? It's insane...think if they do THAT in the movies, what is real life spy-tech doing now? Conspiracy theorists, unite!

Well, there is always Nineteen Eighty-Four. I think it did a very good job of capturing the mood and imagery from Orwell's classic. However, if you haven't read the book I wouldn't bother because there is so much skipped over in the film that it barely makes sense unless you know the story behind it. But for someone who enjoyed the book, it makes a nice video cliff's notes walk down nightmare lane.

Fritz Lang's Metropolis (http://www.kino.com/windowsmedia/metropolis_100.html). The silent Masterpiece that started it all.

Some other interesting films along those lines are
Fahrenheit 451 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060390/)

Ghost in the Shell. Maybe not about Orwellian dystopias, but its got that cyberpunk/technology feel. Also, The Matrix as GITS was a major influenece over that movie, though I dare say everybody on the planet has seen The Matrix by now.
I'm also going to throw out V for Vendetta for its themes of oppression and rebellion and Children of Men for the same reasons and also because it contains in my opinion the best action sequence ever committed to film
(spoiler)The long, long take where Theo goes to rescue the baby in Bexhill(end spoiler)
