Usually it's cheaper to buy something on ebay, but not always. The Q9550 on Newegg is $319 shipped. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115041) On ebay the cheapest is $319 plus shipping. This one (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KIT-Q9550-C2-QUAD-2-83G-12MB-CHIP1333MHZ-AND-I_W0QQitemZ120322206306QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120 322206306&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318) is waaaaay out there.

I was looking at Zunes on eBay and they were at least 10% higher than on Newegg. It's like paying more for less.

I've found in many cases that the great deals of ebay's old days are becoming scarce.

for tech stuff, eBay is not a good place to look for deals.

For a lot of other stuff, it's alright.

Well the QX6850 is still over a Thousand on Newegg, but usually under $500 on Ebay

I find these days ebay is good for buying hard to find things otherwise it is not worth it.

Ebay is decent for old tech. Case in point, I just picked up a gig of PC100 RAM (2X512 Meg) for an AMD Duron 900 MHz class computer for less than $20 shipped.

I've got plans for this system. Still trying to pound out the final requirements.

I purchased a brand new laptop after pricing the used ones on Ebay. I remember thinking what fools people are for bidding up those used laptops that was no where close to the speed and features of the new machine I got for less money.

You can get old parts and desktops for an ok price, but old laptops sell for way too much. I can just get a system with similar specs out of the trash for free, just without the RAM.
