How much RAM does Ubuntu recognize? Will it see 4GB or do I need Ubuntu 64 bit??:D
ubuntu is basicly the same as windows, it will se and use 4gb minus some bits and bobs, but 64bit is needed for over 4gb, load a live cd and check.

Any 32-bit OS will only be able to read 2^32 bits of memory - equivalent to 4,096MBs, and in reality slightly less (the whole 3.5GB deal). Ubuntu 64-bit will be needed :).
Also, 8.10 will be out in 4 days; wait and download the 64-bit version then.
