Ever seen a UFO, or felt some strange whisper behind you, but nobody was there? Perhaps you've seen a Gingerbread house and a creepy looking green-skinned woman offering you candy.

I'd like to know about it :D Halloween's coming up, and some spooky stories would be great to share with the community, might even get front page props for it, so share away! If you don't have one, make one up :), I'll get you started:

I remember once when I was about 13, I was coming back from the train station towards my house at about 7pm, and it was dark (No daylight savings here). Suddenly, I saw this small, bright green bar in the sky. It darted left and right, up and down like a dragon fly, it was REALLY strange. I remember watching it for about 15 minutes, and suddenly it dissapeared. Nobody believed that i'd seen it, and I always wished I had a camera on me, but you can be sure I believe in aliens!

+Rep from me for every story!

I was at home watching tv with my girl friend and I heard foot steps up stairs. We had just gotten back to mine after been out at it was late. I shrugged it off as the house settling but then again I defiantly heard footsteps. I thought there might have been an intruder upstairs so I went and took a look but no one was there. I was pretty freaked out.

Scary thing happened to me today, just this afternoon in fact. I was walking into a tunnel that went under the road and it turned to go down further and under. So there was a nearly 90 degree bend in the path, so I couldn't see around the bend. Because of this, there's a mirror in the corner of the path used by cyclists to look out for pedestrians coming round the corner. As I turn the corner I see I guy standing in the middle of the path, winding back a camera just after taking a shot! He had taken my picture using my reflection from the mirror!. Naturally I turned right the hell around and went out the way I came. And as I left I looked over my shoulder into the mirror and saw him do it again!

I shrugged it off at the time but now I'm home I'm a bit freaked. Not really supernatural or anything but creepy all the same. I wonder how long he had been there, taking pictures of people...

A few years ago I was out walking with my girlfriend at the time. She was telling me about a house near by that was haunted. I told her that she was kidding and real haunted houses don't exist. So we go to the house that's haunted and we're standing outside of it. She wouldn't go in, so I did. The house was burnt to the ground when there was a fire, now the house was totally fine. There is a bedroom in the center of the house that looks totally charred. I tried to walk in the room but physically couldn't. I looked at the room again from the door way and there was a fish mounted on the wall. The fish's eyes follow your movements. At this point I left the house and I was convinced that real haunted houses could exist. The same day just as it was getting dark we went for another walk (there's nothing to do here but walk or get drunk and she didn't drink so we walked) down an old unused road. After a little bit we hit a patch of fog and I heard a horse coming towards us from the other side of the fog. I got off the path and she didn't. I told her to move and she said it's a ghost horse. Well after the house I didn't need much convincing but I wanted to see. I walked into the fog and just as the horse should've run into me it was gone. There are about a three foot drop on either side of the road and solid trees beyond that. Nowhere for a horse to go. There were hove prints in the ground that stopped right where I last heard the horse.

When we got back to her house she showed me the news article about the fire. Back in the 30's or 40's a young married couple lived in the house. The man cheated on his wife and she was going to leave him. He got her a horse because she had always wanted a horse. She decided to stay for a while. He cheated again and she was going to leave. The man was livid so he beat her, dressed her in her wedding dress, tied her down to the bed and tied the horse to the bed. He then burnt the house almost to the ground. I saw pictures of the house burnt down in a real paper. A few days later they printed a new picture of the house and it looked fine except the bedroom. Then a few fire fighters came forward and said that no one could enter the room when they were fighting the fire, the could only watch the room burn.

My mother passed very unexpectedly in January of 1995. No one saw it coming, least of all her. Two weeks after she passed I received a letter in the mail. From her. Seems she wrote it just before she went into the hospital and it got held up in the mail. It was by far the longest letter she ever wrote me, and said a lot of things that should have been said prior. It was like she knew it was going to happen.

Today I'm working on my latest project "Spider House" and I have just chopped up and mutilated a 5.25" external CD/DVD drive case. This horrendous feet was accomplished in the depths of my work shop using a chop saw blade on my table saw. The aluminum screeched and moaned the whole time the blade was slicing through it's slender body. As I was in the process of Frankensteining the body parts into the "Spider House" my Dremel tool mysteriously turned it self on. As I had not used this tool for several hours I was, as you might expect, extremely startled and a a bit frightened by this sudden turn of events. As I reach to turn the tool off, the blade bit into the table, the tool rotated toward my unprotected hand as if to mutilate my fingers. Wrestling with the posessesed Dremel, I managed to grab it by the neck and cut off its life force. So beware my fellow modders, do not neglect your favorite tool in favor of a quicker or simpler soulution. It might just turn on you and bite you when you least expect it!

A few days ago I was at my friend's house picking up some of my stuff I left there. He wasnt going to be home until very late so (since the stuff was in the workshop) he said I could come and get everything while he was out and there was no one home.

I didnt show up there until about 8:00 PM, so it was pretty dark out already. I had to go out to his garage/workshop which is across his very large, and of course wooded yard in the back. So I get in there, turn on the lights so I can see, and start grabbing my stuff. Well, before I went I decided to see if he had a Torx wrench because I needed one to take something apart. His actual tool cabinet is in his garage. Being a very old house, and them not using the garage much they never installed ceiling lights. Instead there was only a small lamp on top of the cabinet. Well I'm searching for the tools and all of the sudden I hear workshop (which I cant see while in the garage) door open and close. Thinking that maybe my friend got home early and was seeing what I was up to, I went over into the workshop. Now right here I got a little tensed up. No one was there, and the lights had been turned off. Now I thought he was just playing a joke on me, but I was a little creeped out none the less. So I leave the workshop and go over towards the entrance to his yard where he normally parks his car. Of course, its not there and hes not home. Now, I wont lie to you, I was a little scared. So now I head back to the work shop, to just get my stuff, the Torx wrench and leave. I grab my stuff out of the workshop, turn the light off on my way out, head over into the garage to get the wrench. The little lamp is still on, so I search through the cabinet. I found the wrench and was just about to turn the lamp off. Out of nowhere I start hearing this very loud banging on the outside wall of the garage. I absolutely froze. Now here's where I just about died. The banging moved. It moved down the wall away from me at first, continued on the opposite wall and started coming towards me down the other wall. As it moved down this wall it sped up and got louder. Not having a clue what was going to come at me I grabbed a very large socket wrench from next to me. It got all the way down the wall to the door right next to me where I was prepared to hit something. It gets to the door and the banging stops. In an attempt to catch who or whatever it was, I quickly throw the door open. Nothing.

I honestly don't know what it was. A person seems like the most likely story, but I know I opened that door half a second after the banging right at it stopped. Even if someone was doing it they couldnt have gotten away from that door fast enough.

I grabbed the wrench, grabbed my stuff, and GTFOed.

Anyway, thats my creepy story. I don't know if any of the creepiness translated well from the situation to this forum, but that is my creepy story.

I don't have anything all that spooky, though I've got a few inexplicable things... the largest of which is probably my ceiling fan. I've got an IRC log from that point...

<Sanguini> oh, yeah...actually I got a story to tell
<Py> oh?
<Sanguini> the ceiling fan here in my room stays on 24/7
<Sanguini> well
<Sanguini> When I'm here, it's on, rather
<Sanguini> so of course it's on last night. I had the light on too (I turn that on and off by the pull chain), I was lying there in bed, reading
<Sanguini> and I look up and realize, oh, fan stopped
<Py> o.O
<Sanguini> so I think about that, look at it for a couple minutes, pinch myself
<Sanguini> We'd been having power issues, but the light was on, and the switch here in the corner (networking, not on/off) was whirring away
<Sanguini> so I figured that wasn't it
<Sanguini> so I get up to try to spin it started again, and as soon as my feet hit the floor, (censored) comes on
<Sanguini> Ooookay.
<Sanguini> So I get back in bed.
<Sanguini> Not 30 seconds later, it's off again.
...
<Sanguini> I whacked the wall, and that didn't do it
<Sanguini> but the floor did, I guess

At the time, I blamed the wiring... but this was almost two years ago. Hasn't done it since.

In a more asking-for-it scenario, a couple of my friends would all stay over this guy's house, hold a weekend LAN party... we'd do this every couple of months, up until about a year ago. These generally involved midnight walks to go get snacks and soda, at the very least, and occasionally we'd head the opposite direction around two, three in the morning. Now, his house was on the "last road in civilization"; the street light at the end is, I believe, still the second-to-last one on 137 (the state highway) out of town. (Here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=Parent+St,+Jaffrey,+NH+03452&daddr=Proctor+Rd&hl=en&geocode=FZtljQIdjfm0-w%3BFWCNjQIdu-S0-w&mra=ls&sll=42.823563,-72.019887&sspn=0.010214,0.019097&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=15)'s a crude map.) We always saw/heard weird things, of course, this being the New Hampshire woods... perhaps the creepiest was the moving light in the middle of the field above the P in Proctor Rd., since there are no houses out behind there... still haven't figured that one out.

There ya go, Cymae; that's what I've got.

Its was 1982 in early september, come to think of it it was September 12th my wedding anniversary(hrm this is actually kind of eerie). Anyway, on september 11th I was up really late trying to finish a book report I procrastinated on and my grandpa was laying on the couch. When I went to give him a kiss on the forehead good night he was in this cold clammy sweat. He was deaf and I was taught sign language so I could talk to him. He told me he loved me and that even though I was late on my book report he was proud of me.

When I came home from school the next day he had passed away after we left for school. My grandmother(also deaf) told us he knew he was dying and didnt want us to witness it. Even though he was gone we all insisted we wanted to go to the hospital knowing full well we wouldnt get to see him, we wanted to go anyway. I specifically needed to go. I was in shock and needed to be there for whatever reason, I had no idea why.

It was roughly about 1030pm or so the night of the 12th when we got home. When we walked in there was only one light on with no obstructions anywhere around it but the wall that was behind it. I looked up and saw a shape on the wall opposite the light, and it completely resembled him. I blinked my eyes and the shape on the wall was gone. In its place where the ceiling meets the wall was a very large spider, the size of a tarantula. My sister screamed before I could get to it and my dad destroyed it. To this day I wondered if maybe that spider was there because of my grandfather. But I guess I will never know. But its something that I will never forget. Ever.

Not really spooky, but I have experienced deja vu twice in my life. The first time that it happened was in my hometown--I walked into a friend's grandmother's house (his grandfather had passed away the previous year), and I somehow knew where all the "everyday items" were--the utensils, the knick knacks, all the mundane stuff. Made for an interesting supper to say the least. It was also one of the wierdest feelings that I have ever felt as well.

I can also remember looking at a rental in Billings MT that was quite creepy: slab floor that was cracked and buckled, spiderwebs in more than one corner of the ceiling, etc. It looked like something out of a B grade horror movie. However, the creepiest part of the house was actually outside: someone had hung a stuffed animal (either a dog or a teddy bear, I cannot remember which) from a tree limb with a noose.

Needless to say, I didn't rent that place.

I've got another good real experience. I'll start by telling you the legend behind the story. Back when the Salem witch trials were going on there were three sisters that were witches. They decided to go into hiding for 100 years. (I think) Anyways, one went to England somewhere, one went to another country that I can't remember and the third moved to Pennsylvania. They each found a secluded cave to hide in and brewed a sleeping potion for themselves. They figured after they awoke they would be the last witches alive and could rule the world. They took the potions and went to sleep. About 50 years or so pass and some people build a town by the witch in Pennsylvania. They had problems with watering their crops so they flooded the near by hollow and irrigated the water in for the crops. After the sleeping potions wore off, the sisters were supposed to meet back in Salem. When the sister from Pennsylvania didn't show up, the other two sisters went to where she was sleeping to check on her. The found the hollow flooded. Despite their best efforts they couldn't bring her back to life. They cursed the hollow and everyone in the town. If I'm remembering right the town didn't last much longer because they couldn't get anything to grow in the fields after that.

Ok, onto my experience. A few friends of mine told me that if you drive through the hollow there is a section about 3-5 feet long that is always foggy and is ice cold when you drive through it. If you stop the windows start to frost over and if you have something out the window you can't bring it back into the vehicle. I had to see this place for myself. To get to the hollow you down a little dirt road that ends up being a 1 lane that dead-ends so you have to go back through the fog to leave. We went around 3 in the afternoon when it was 90 out. No AC in the vehicle. So first off this fog comes out of nowhere, you can't see it till you are practically on top of it and you can see a good 500 feet ahead until the fog pops up. The road at this point is very narrow and always muddy and almost flooded. The water lever never changes at this point in the road. As soon as we got into the fog the temperature drops and you can see your breath. The first time through, one of my friends puts his arm out the window and we stop. He tried to pull it back in and can't. The windows start to frost over. I tried to put my arm out the window and couldn't. We drive through the fog and things are back to normal instantly. Next time through I put my arm out the window and I can't pull it back in. We didn't sit there very long that time.

The rest of the legend goes that if you stop there on the day she died with anything out of the window the witches hand will come up out of the water and try to pull you down with her. I wasn't too interested in finding out about that part of the legend since the rest is true.

Near my home there is a cemetery that is home to a group of babies that were killed in a fire very long ago. It is normal for youth in the area to be dared to walk the graves alone. While my friends were driving out there, a dog walked into the road. Its head was lowered, snout to the ground, and its head rocked from side to side. It's attempt at discouraging our progression was met when my friends got out of the car and shooed it off the road.

When we arrived at the cemetery, I was first to walk the graves. As I walked, fog rose from the ground, covering the area, but leaving a clear space over the collection of graves. A ghost rose from one of the graves and aksed, "Aren't you a little old for this crap?" Ashamed, I walked back to the car and asked to go home.

I am a man of science and reason, I am one of the last people you will convince that a place is haunted and can almost always find some sort of reasonable explaination for strange findings. Even when I cannot, I usually chalk it up to "huh, that is difficult to explain, I suppose we just won't know, but it ain't haunted you idiot!" So that probably clearly defines me as a skeptic, and I have seen many things I could not explain, but few of them have frightened me...except this tale which I assure you is 100% true, no exaggerations.

Back when I was an early teenager my best friend Scott and I were bored and looking for some entertainment around Halloween. Now, ask anyone roughly 35 yrs or older and they will tell you that back in the day playing your records backwards to try and find subliminal-Satanic messages was widely practiced. So here we are with our long hair, torn blue jeans, and ripped up Megadeth T-shirts looking to groove with the Devil. Scott had bought a new stereo system and actually had a record player which made this easy so we set out to catch the "Dark Lord" in the act and we pulled out his collection of heavy metal and set to our task. One after another, Dokken, Metallica, Motley Crue...nothing but mumbo-jumbo. Surely Judas Priest would slip us a vocal "how-ya-doing" from the "Prince of Lies"....again...nothing but inaudible garbling. Disappointed and getting even more bored, we dug out one of his childhood records. It was a Walt Disney classic and unfortunately I cannot recall which one. With ear to ear grins we placed the LP on the turn table and powered up the machine. As usual, just garbage and nonsensical rhythms followed....for a while. Somewhere along the lines we both noticed that there was one sound which seemed to be sustained and not just jumping around like all the others, at first it sounded a bit like a young girl whimpering, but no words. Our grins very gradually melted into puzzled, forehead-wrinkled stares at the speakers. We looked at each other to verify that we were not hearing this in our heads and the mutual gaze of confusion confirmed that something strange was indeed emanating from the speakers. We turned it up, and listened more. The whimpering seemed to go on for a few seconds and gradually increased until it sounded more like a cry. It was not a boo-boo on the knee type of cry, it was a broken heart that won't be mended type of cry. This went on for a few more seconds as Scott and I once again exchanged odd glances of "WTF?". Then, without warning we both felt lightning travel up our spines in reaction to an instant outburst from the once soft and sincerely delicate voice whimpering agony through Walt Disney. The outburst began as the voice quite clearly screaming, and I mean screaming (blood curdling screaming) this...

"NOOOOOO!!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Please mommy, it hurts!!!!! STOP PLEASE!"

and with that, the sounds went back to the usual nonsensical melodies. Scott and I were absolutely frozen with fear, looking at each other and there were no words that need be uttered for there was nothing to discuss. We both heard it, we know what we heard. We were scared ****less. We left the record player continue as it had been and calmly walked down into his kitchen to evaluate each others and our own sanity. "No F-ing way did that just happen"; said Scott. I replied; "That was F'd up dude! Should we tell anyone?" Scott looked at me as though he were trying to figure out just how stupid I was and replied; "Tell who...what? Who is going to believe that!?!?!" I told him no problem, we just play it for them and they will hear it too. We agreed it was worth running past a third person in the event that we had indeed lost our minds so we went back to relocate the track and play it for his mother. By the time we got back the record had finished and we were not sure where it was on the LP so we went song by song looking for the horrible message. Alas, after hearing the whole damned Disney special in reverse, we could not find any hint of the voice we had heard no more than an hour ago. To this day I still have no clue what happened in that room. Scott had no other sound devices to fake the sound, and it was very clearly coming from the speakers, not from a far corner of the room. No one else was home at the time and there was no other source we could account for. We still don't know if we believe what we heard, but the fact that we both heard it confirms that something crazy did in fact come from that album. Who knows, I have no explanation but the memory still gives me the chills. And I will never forget the sound of her voice.

Jon

At my school, backstage in the auditorium, a girl died number of years ago (~44) there was somebody who told us that, so we all went back with him and saw the plaque above a dressing room that is dedicated to her. Just off of the stage, it is usually very dark. There are stairs going up to some storage for select props and such from plays in years past, and some graffiti on the walls, and an organ at the bottom of the stairs. Underneath the stairs, there is an old bathroom which, I think also has graffiti in it. Almost every time that anybody looked up there (the top of the stairs), they would see something like a white flash, or something almost like somebody waving a white blanket around, but just for a second, then it would be gone. When I showed somebody else, last year, who had moved into the district shortly before, I was the only one who would take him back into the hall to show him the plaque above the dressing room. I did, and he said that it "felt weird back there." I agreed that there was a strange presence back there. I have a little bit of an explanation for the seeing things, since it is somewhat bright on stage, but none for the creepy atmosphere in general. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to take any pictures. I will try to remember to take some and post them here next time there is a concert in a few months.

I post this reluctantly.

I was young. Somewhere between 6 and 9. I was playing with Castle Greyskull and all my He-man characters on the dining room table. My mom said it was time for bed so I whined about having to put all my toys away. She let me leave it on the table so I could continue playing in the morning.

During the night I awoke to go to the bathroom. I had to walk out of my bedroom go through the dining room to get to the bathroom. I headed out the door and came to the dining room table where I saw a boy about my age sitting at the table. He was wearing all black. He had red eyes and Dark hair and he looked right at me. I screamed and ran to my Moms bed crying.

Thinking back, it was probably in my head. I just awoke, still very tired and had a waking dream. But what if it was real?

I get chills thinking about it and have to stop typing this just to look around.

Once, i threw a rock at one of the guys in a haunted house. He chased after me and my friends a few blocks away. Then we threw candy at him...

These arent my own personal stories, but im sure some of them will get you going :) Here we go...

A few months ago a friend of mine, who is an up-and-coming nature photographer, decided to
spend a day and night alone in the woods outside of our town. She wanted to get photos of
the woods and wildlife as naturally as she could for her portfolio. She wasn’t afraid of
being alone, as she had camped by herself many times before. She set up a tent in the
middle of a small clearing and spent the day taking pictures. She filled up four rolls
of film on that trip, but something was strange about them. What she saw in those
pictures has stayed with her ever since, and she is still trying to recover from the
trauma the have caused her.

Almost every picture was accounted for, save for one picture in each roll of film. These
pictures were of her, asleep in her tent in the middle of the night.

You get a phone call from your Mother. Since her car has been in the shop, she asks you to
go to the grocery store and pick up a few odds and ends for her. Bread, milk, cereal, and
chicken breasts.

After writing down a small list you reluctantly get in the car and pick up the items at
the store. The lady cashier makes an odd remark to you, "You know, we're in no danger of
a milk shortage." Upon arriving at her house you knock several times. No answer.
You decide to try the door. It opens. You place the grocery bag on the counter. Strange.
There seems to be six other grocery bags, each with identical contents. In a couple, the
chicken and the milk has gone bad. "Mom," you call out, but no answer. You make your way
through the kitchen and into the living room. Sitting on the couch, with her head cut off
and neatly resting on her lap, is your Mother.

Naturally you call the police who come over to investigate. They mention that she has
been dead for nearly a week. Furthermore, the police psychiatrist is at the scene and
talks to you after you give your initial statement. Sitting on the front steps, you
overhear the psychiatrist talking with the crime scene investigator. "It's not uncommon
for people suffering from schizophrenia to get locked into a series of repetitive
behaviors," he says.

You think to yourself, "They can't be talking about me. Schizophrenia? Nah. Repetitive
behavior? Do they think I did this?" Suddenly your cell phone goes off. "Hello?"

"Hi hun, it's me. Could you stop at the store and pick up some chicken and milk.
Ohh, and I need some bread and cereal too."

"No problem Mom. I'll be right over..."

* I am Thomas's reflection.
* Every morning, he rises from sleep and walks into the bathroom.
* ...and he makes faces.
* I am so tired of the faces. He makes them for at least half an hour. Mocking,
ridiculous faces. I have no choice but to mimic his every action, although inside I am
seething with anger.
* He does this every day... well, USED to.
* One morning he awoke as usual, and entered the bathroom.
* On this particular morning, against his will, he picked up a pair of scissors.
* On this particular morning, against his will, he gripped those scissors tightly in his
fist.
* ...on this particular morning, entirely against his will, he plunged those scissors
directly into his right eye.
* Thomas screamed, and screamed. I screamed and screamed too - with one difference.
* I can't mimic his pain.
* Just his face.

During the summer of 1983, in a quiet town near Minneapolis, Minnesota, the charred body
of a woman was found inside the kitchen stove of a small farmhouse. A video camera was
also found in the kitchen, standing on a tripod and pointing at the oven. No tape was
found inside the camera at the time.

Although the scene was originally labelled as a homicide by police, an unmarked VHS tape
was later discovered at the bottom of the farm's well (which had apparantly dried up
earlier that year).

Despite its worn condition, and the fact that it contained no audio, police were still
able to view the contents of the tape. It depicted a woman recording herself in front of
a video camera (seemingly using the same camera the police found in the kitchen).
After positioning the camera to include both her and her kitchen stove in the image,
the tape then showed her turning on the oven, opening the door, crawling inside,
and then closing the door behind her. Eight minutes into the video, the oven could be
seen shaking violently, after which point thick black smoke could be seen emanating from
it. The camera then continued to stationarily point at the oven for another 45 minutes
until the batteries apparantly died.

To avoid disturbing the local community, police never released any information about the
tape, or even the fact that it was found. Police were also not able to determine who put
the tape in the well.

...or why the physical stature of the woman on the tape did not in any way resemble the
stature of the woman found in the oven.

Thats all for now.... enjoy....

One time, I was outside at night leaning up against a tool shed (pitch black except for the stars, around 12) and I heard something like footsteps behind the shed, and I almost ran as fast as I have ever ran in my life but I was too scared to. I just stood there.
Then, an air compressor inside the shed (that wasn't plugged up) turned on and started running. It scared the crap out of me. I was scared already and then the air compressor suddenly turning on without a power source (which by the way was very loud and right next to the wall I was next to). I thought I was going to die.
