My friend think he's getting a good deal, when, in reality, he is getting ripped off bigtime. I've tried to tell him that it isn't worth it, but I think he needs a lot of people telling him no to be convinced. Here's the link (http://www.computerforums.org/showthread.php?t=77933). You can post here or there.

Sorry for double-posting, but does anybody agree with me? I don't want him to get ripped off like that.

Actually that setup isn't bad for $150. It's better than my system specs and I would not sell my system for that much.

But the friend isn't going down to $150. He can get new, better parts cheaper. Did you see the combo deal that I found and had darxxus post? That's an athlon 64 x2 2.7GHZ and a motherboard that takes DDR2 for only $100.99. Darxxus already gave him 2 gigs DDR2 for free, and I might sell my 8800GT for $80 or $90 to ESL. The motherboard that the friend would be selling him takes the original DDR memory. At first glance, I thought it wasn't a bad deal either. He only gets the motherboard, DDR RAM, and CPU, and a PSU that doesn't work correctly with the deal. The friend also offered to give him an illegal copy of xp with it for the OS. I am going to be helping ESL with all of the setup.

I see your point. I could easily score all those parts new for about $200. I thought he was getting a lot more just like you did at first.

He thinks he will only get cheap sh*t that won't work well, or at all. The stuff in the deal seems to be decent, wouldn't you agree? It's better than the board that takes the obsolete DDR. A faster CPU, too.

I've only bought used computer stuff a couple of times. I didn't really feel like I got ripped off the first time because it was my first computer and most machines were unreasonably expensive back then. But the second time, I got cheap junk that did not work that well.

So I would recommend to your friend to buy new.
