Awright, time for some modding :D !

I'm not the most skilled guy out there, or the most experienced (Hey, I'm fourteen years a few months ago, whaddya expect?), but here's my first attempt at a real mod (No, I haven't actually done anything yet).

Here are some pictures of my victim to start us off, then I'll go into my grandiose plans. (descriptions below each picture)

Alright, there's a quick overview of what I have so far. I'm also going to be making a mini-case to put watercooling inside of.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v644/Overconfidence/watercooling001.jpg

(This is the totally homemade (including the waterblock), and I need to buy some aluminum to build the case).

Anyway, back to the theme: Warzone. I'm going to have shells coming out of the window, a carbon fiber front to the case (and the mini-case underneath), green night vision lights inside, one flickering red HDD activity light, a guarded switch for main power, a matte black paintjob to the rest of the case, and anything else you guys suggest ;).

I'll keep you posted,
~OC

Looks good. I thought the water cooling setup looked homemade, but it looks really good all the same.

It looks like this is gonna turn out really good.

nice, love the shells lol. so you're gonna have bullet holes all along the side?

The watercooling.. I'm throwing away that crappy jug you can see there, and using some copper pipe for the reservoir. That whole part'll be mostly hidden though ;).

Bullet holes? Sort of. I was planning on having two parts for the main window. One of them clear (part above motherboard, on the left), and the other part with a mesh behind it (on the right). Coming out of window with the mesh behind it will be shells with green LEDs inside of 'em. (Going for nightvision sort of idea here for color theme). The mesh will be peeled back where the shells are going through, and I'll etch some shatter patterns around the shells. I'll sketch it up on the side of the case once I figure out how I'm going to partition the window, and show you guys ;).

Gotta bring the front panel to school on Monday so that my friend can take it home and make a kickass carbon fiber facade.

It'd be cool if you had some division insignias on the case or something (like the 101st Airborne is this (http://www.a101avn.org/101Assocemblm.jpg))

That'd be pretty cool. 'Cept I'm in Canada, so my friends might think "WTF?!" :P.

Might put some kind of insigna though, neat idea.

Canadian Military engineers would be a great fit for a mil-themed case mod, IMHO. Beaver or not. Ha!

One thing to consider is that the shells, obviously, are not fired with the rest of the bullet, so to have them coming through the mesh might look a bit odd. You could have the shells sort of strewn about the bottom, with bullet holes in the mesh bending away from the impact - would make for a nice effect.

You're on the right track with this - you're showing a lot of ingenuity, especially for someone your age. I wish I would have discovered modding when I was 14!

Keep it up, this looks to be an exciting project.

Aye, I knew it wouldn't be long before somebody pointed out that the shells aren't actually the.. well, things being shot (They just fly out the side of the gun and look awesome lying on the ground). However, I thought it'd look cool anyhow. Just having the shells 'suspended' in midair will be fun, but I might have some bullet holes and the shells at the bottom (though this doesn't give the same effect as brass sticking out the window).

Anyway, I'm off for the night, I'll bring the front panel to school and see what my friend can do :D.

Carbon fiber is a go.

No new pictures yet, I may post a couple later tonight if I get the window designs done.

I am going to buy some aluminum sheets (.063") and some aluminum angle to build the mini-case for watercooling, and my friend has an offcut of carbon fiber for the front panel of it (Already made, he was making body panels for his truck. Well, he can't drive yet, but when he can... :P).

Window design is going to be a split, with mesh behind the one half. You'll see when I get that up and running.

The main front panel will cost about 15-25 CDN for materials. Professional labour would be about $400, but he knows how to, but he won't do it unless I help him out... so I guess I get to learn how to lay down carbon fiber.

It's apparantly going to be quite a few steps to get the final thing down. We have to sand it and put some epoxy down with some graphite (First resin layer), put the CF weave up, put a layer of resin, and then sand it down some. He also wants to put his 'symbol' on the front, but it looks vaguely army-ish and awesome, so I'm cool with it. I'll keep you guys updated on the side panel and the mini-case, and see if I can get some pics of the side panel layout.

perhaps you could make the reservoir a canteen or a 1 gallon gas tank. great job so far, i love the bullets on top of the case.

Yeah. I hope you're good at sanding, 'cause I'm going to let you do that.

Gah, so are you going to bring it to school, or what? >.> Should I just come over Friday or something?

*blinks*

Oh, I got the metal for the mini-case, got the case window all lined up to cut out. The metal is going to a shear tomorrow at my dad's work, gunna get cut up, and then the aluminum angle is going to a hacksaw, and then I can put the mini-case together. And I need a lot of FLAT black paint.

Verbal update for now..

Got plans for the side window, and I have all of the metal sheets and angle cut for the mini-case. Got some metal mesh as well to use... Pictures will come soon... sooooon...

I haven't had any time to take pictures, but the project's coming along quite well. The watercooling case is about halfway done (More or less). Once that one's done I can focus on the main case. I just bought a DFI Ultra-D Board and a ThermalTake power supply which will find their way into my mod.
