I'd much rather have the Acer One (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115513). It at least has a normal 160GB hard drive and $300 cheaper

Only 1GB, that's disappointing.

This isn't a laptop or desktop, or a replacement of either of those two kinds of personal computers. Its a netbook. Its a companion to your laptop and/or desktop. So yea, if your looking for a new stand-alone rig, these specs aren't all that impressive, if at all. But for a netbook, they are pretty good. Now, that said...

This new version of the Eee is a bit like the Air in my opinion. Its sacrificing pretty much all but the bare essentials for design, while still being more expensive or just as expensive than others of its kind who offer more basic features than it does. I understand its half the thickness of the last generation Eee (0.71"-0.98" vs 1.4" ) and it is definitely "sexier" looking as well. But I can't stand how companies justify a high price tag just for slimming it down and making it more visually appealing while taking away features (and sometimes performance, but not in this case) to do so. But unlike the Air, at least Eee isn't raising its price tag higher than its past models who offer more features than this current one. Which is nice, but still... meh... its still much too much money for what it is offering I think.

This new Eee netbook design - WIN

The new Eee netbook price - FAIL

For what they are asking price wise, I'd rather buy a small laptop that could run circles around ANY Eee. Sure, I understand that a laptop (even a small one) is quite a bit bigger than most netbooks, but the trade-off (a bit harder to carry around?) is most definitely worth it.

Let me know when the price for this baby drops a bit, like more towards $499.99 if not exactly that much. THEN I would be more than interested, I would actually buy one. A very small, very thin, very sexy looking companion PC would be pretty nice to have, so nice in fact, that it would be worth justifying the price while knowing I could get more features/performance for my money elsewhere. But as it is now, it just costs too much for what it is in my opinion. A COMPANION PC should not cost as much or more than a full feature, up to date in technology, personal computer, laptop or otherwise.

It is supposed to be more durable, and it has the solid-state disk.

I can't use those things the screen is way to small. A 12.1" screen is about the smallest I can use effectively in a laptop.
