Type Of Plastic Used To Build The Doom 3 Mod??

right now im looking into building a super slim PC... less than an inch thick.... and um.. i was wonder what type of plastic was used to make the pieces for the doom 3 mod.. what type and where i would be able to acquire some... any info would be greatly appreciated... :D

I do believe Paul used Styrene. Should be able to pick it up at any hobby store.

It's called "sheet styrene" I'm not sure what thickness he used. Anywhere between 0.5mm to 1.5mm has been good for me in the past. It all depends on what you are doing of course. 2mm may be required, but I think it's overkill really. And like DrumThumper said, you can get various thicknesses at your local hobby shop.

It's harder to find the thicker styrene for my NES PC in hardware stores and hobby shops. I tried looking, but I think I might have to order it online.

Evergreen styrene is widely distributed but sometimes pricey.You can find it at train model shops. Evergreen is nice because they have different angles and shapes.

I've ordered from USPlastics in the past who sell 40" x 72" (100 x 183cm) sheets of styrene for a decent price. Look for a plastic supplier over a hobby shop if you need alot of styrene. The modwiki has several but not sure who is in or ships to Canada.

It's Styrene. Check the worklog, I'm pretty sure Paul details thickness and everything.

You can get it from www.usplastics.com. The prices are fair, and you can get sheets up to 4x8 feet. They will cut it in half for you if you request.

mucho thnx to the community.. hopefully i can get some and have it shipped to canada...... if this all works out.. i'll be able to build a PC that makes a mac look like a cheap $3 hooker :)
