Sharp, LG, and Chunghwa Picture Tubes are about to plead guilty to charges of price fixing on LCD displays sold to vendors like Apple and Dell. I was starting to wonder why the price of my LCD has only dropped $10 in the last year...

Turns out ATI and NVIDIA are facing the same type of litigation over similar issues or price fixing and hardware restrictions. I was sent a letter from some lawyer because I bought and ATI card some time ago from the website.

Maybe this explains part of why cell phones cost so damn much. Same with MP3 players, PDAs, and other various portable electronics not to mention tons of non-portable ones. Lower prices would help the economy get rolling again, too.

I think this is just a small step towards getting the economy rolling again, but any step counts these days.

Price fixing is nothing new (http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=1983) in the tech world. Glad to see panel manufacturers getting busted for it; I figured something was going on.
