Don't use em. They're annoying and get in the way of work lol.

Plus where I work its annoying to start a CPU test and come back 10 mins later to check on it and have to get out of the screensaver and log back in.

I'm with luke. I run the Hyperspace one from Reallyslick. I enjoy it and as much as I ahte to run them my computer is in an area of the hosue where it needs to be on. Stupid turning the den into a makeshift computer room.

I don't use them. Every time I try to the cats end up on the desk trying to catch whatever is on the screensaver so I gave up.

Where do you install the screensavers from ReallySlick? I cannot find the folder that they're supposed to go in.

What I typically do is set my screensaver to come on after 20-30 mins (depending on the system.. notebook = less) and then the screen to power off 10 minutes after that.

I love the reallyslick ones.. super pretty, and even though they are a few years old, you can wind up the settings and grind pretty much any system to a halt. :) The more power the merrier!

The default Vista one for Vista, and the default xp one for xp.

Wow, such a maverick, heh.

I go around DeviantArt and all the other public art sites and grab 3D Abstracts and such and put them in a folder for a picture slideshow. I also have my StumbleUpon topics set to give me wallpaper/backgrounds/3D designs every now and then, so about once a month I find a new website that categorizes cool images or gives a top 50 images list, and add a few of em to my slideshow folder. The time before last that I reformatted I forgot to save that folder, so I'm only back up to 237 images now. I rather like Vista's random transitions for picture slideshows now too, that means I almost always get some combination I've never seen before.

On a related topic, I use a program called Desktoptopia to give me a new desktop background every X hours. It's sweet.

The Free Fire Screensaver (http://www.download.com/Free-Fire-Screensaver/3000-2257_4-10627791.html?cdlPid=10895178) is good too

There's one for Ubuntu that has transparent car engines running. It accurately displays the firing order of each of the engine types.

I'm using that one now too, looks awesome, especially on dual monitors  had to d/l UltraMon (http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/) to get it to display properly, and its good for other neat dual-monitor features as well :D

Here's a real popular Engine (http://www.jonathansblog.net/deutz_engine_screensaver_animation) screensaver. It has an engine being put together in 3D. This is the screensaver I put on my In-Laws Superbee PC

Here's a Diesel engine (http://www.jonathansblog.net/perkins_animated_3d_engine_construction_operation_ diesel_engine) screensaver too

I used to work with the guy that made all those screensavers. He programmed them specifically to lay waste to any GPU card out there for years to come. I was at his wedding a couple of months ago and got him to commit to making some more. They should be on reallyslick.com sometime in January or February.

You've mentioned stuff you've made a few times now and I can't help but want to know if you have it posted anywhere online. I would like to take a look and see what you've made.

i've made a few bit and pieces, mainly for personal use or for friends, i've done a few screen savers, a firewall, notepad v2 (Tabbed notepad) and did start an AV but gave up as it was too complicated to get it to work stablely

i will upload my screensaver for you all later
