One of my pals rang me last night and asked me what Mobo he should get for his newly built (and broken) system (his 1st mobo blew up in about 3 days, lol).

The parts he has that work include Intel Q6600 (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/CPUs+%2F+Processors/Intel/Core+2+Duo/Intel+Core+2+Quad+Q6600+2.4GHz+95W+G0+Stepping+%28 Retail+775%29+?productId=28356), 4GB DDR2 Corsair Ram (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Memory/DDR2/DDR2+1066+%28PC8500%29/Corsair+4GB+PC2-8500+C5+XMS2+%282+x+2GB%29+?productId=33571), and a Geforce 8800GTX (cant remember the maker :() He is running it in an Antec 900 case with a 700W OCZ psu (https://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/500w+%2B/OCZ+700W+GameXStream+SLI+Ready+PSU+?productId=2458 7). Oh, and he has SATA HD's and IDE optical drives.

Now, his top end budget is £200 for the mobo (english money i know :P), but i reckon ideally he'd want to keep it closer to £100-£150 mark. The question is, whats the best option for that setup and that kind of money? Also, is it worth his while spending as much as he is talking about spending, or is it a bit of an overkill?

Many thanks for your inputs :)

Three of my friends and my uncle have got this board, and have been happy with it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16813131299 you should be able to get it, I'd imaging, for less than £100, unless they mark it up a lot. Ironicly, my friends and uncle that got this board all have an Nvidia video card.

Cheers for that nevermind, im running the P5K-C and really pretty happy with it so far, so this should be a good option (and your right its just shy of £100 :D)

Any other thoughts ppl?

i would recomend this version:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142854

give you the option for wifi later in life, and is a good solid board with overclocking options.

and at £115 a good price
