View Full Version : Modders' Forgotten Stash

We all have stashes of modding parts ranging from fans, to cable ties, to old cases, mobos, drives etc. We call this our 'stash' , 'pile o' crap', or even our 'junk pile'.

But if any of you are like me, you also horde the boxes of any piece of electronics you've ever purchased, or at the very least those that still have warranties, either by time or stuff we haven't cut open and voided.

I knew I had molex->sata power converters somewhere. I spent hours cleaning and organizing my 4 big huge buckets of my 'stash' only to have everything organized in baggies and boxes and ZERO adapters found. So, I ordered some.

Waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting...
One Week Later...

Looked over into the motherboard boxes stashed with the warranty boxes. Low and behold, multiple molex->sata adapters. Ughhh....at least my stash is organized, but I am out 12$.

Anyone have similar problems where they forget to check their forgotten 'stash', went out and ordered it, only to find the item they have been looking for and desperately waiting for, for what seems like forever?

Damn lost modding stash...

I can tell you how to permanently end your "stash" problem. Marry a woman who can't stand clutter. My stash of computer junk has been seriously diminished. I'm just glad that it didn't completely go away.

My healthy stash of junk may be gone, but it is not forgotten.

I'm trying to downsize my huge stash. That's why I'm offering a lot of stuff for free, or almost nothing. I've been using my newegg boxes to ship NESs. The regular ones that they ship most of their stuff in are just the right size. Plus, I get the foam beads for free.

I do have a girlfriend who doesn't want the clutter. It's just that she loosens up after a while, usually when I clean out and get rid of some stuff.

Case in point:
I got rid of the old blueberry imac, a computers worth of parts went to my brother, my other brother is buying a laptop so it is all packed up and ready to go this weekend, and I organized and cleaned up all the 'stash' so it looks like it was half of what it was.

So because of that she loosened up. Well... ... ... I ended up picking up the 2 1u servers, 3 3u, a laptop, 2 CRT's, and a desktop, and I will be getting my other desktop back when my brother buys the laptop this weekend. :D. So she's hinting at me not getting any more stuff lol. Thats okay, as SXRguy is getting one server, the other will be gutted and out of her way.

Soon I will be back in the 'get stuff' mode again. 8). I can't help it, I'm like a magnet for free stuff lol.

If there's anybody near Farmington Hills (detroit area) that wants any CRTs or computer cases, you're welcome to stop by and pick them up from me. I could afford to lose some P3s and 64MB SDRAM, too.

I have a pirate's chest in my room full of parts. It's actually a family heirloom-great, great grandfather was a captain, and it was his chest. He sunk 3 ships as captain, and in the third one decided he couldn't face the shame and stayed on the bridge when the boat went down. Apparently a cabin-boy used the chest to get back to shore, and returned it to his widow.

At first, I took this story with a pinch of salt. However, my mother has newspaper clippings from the olden days that genuinely do back up the story...
