Yesterday, I....

- had a chat with my boss. Due to the economic slowdown, I'm without a job now. Yay, unemployed and broke for Christmas. Add homeless to the mix (for when my mortgage payment bounces right away) and you've got the recipe for the best Christmas ever.

- found a new job, painting and doing general labor for interior finishing/construction. I'm going to work again right away. Pay is decent, but I wont get paid for a couple more weeks, so yeah.. bye bye mortgage.

- decided that I cant afford to maintain two vehicles, so as soon as my insurance for this month expires, we are parking my old beater truck. That leaves my wife without a vehicle while I'm at work (50km away).

- had a little breakdown.

So why is this the best christmas ever? Cant afford to buy presents, will be working like crazy all through holidays and beyond, will probably lose my house and my credit.. certainly doesnt sound good.

The reason is.. wait.. umm... oh snap, this is going to suck!

Wow, sorry to hear it, this time of year especially. I'm glad to hear that you were at least able to find employment of some kind fairly quickly, but still, wow. Anything I can help with, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

That's terrible. I'm not sure if it would help at all but www.snagajob.com helped me find a few local jobs. It's better than the others out there such as Monster.com in my opinion.

My dad's been bouncing around jobs too and his resume is to die for when speaking in terms of construction. He was making 45-55 an hour... now he's pulling in 17 and lately only getting 3 or 4 days a week.

Sad to say, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. Many of us are in it with you man, and if not... sadly, may very well be soon.
