I've been out of a car for forever! (almost a year) Yesterday we went up to Cal Worthington Dodge and left with a jet black, '04 Mustang 40th anniversary. V6 Automatic but it's pretty damn spunky and fun to drive. I think I lost it already to my girlfriend though haha.

Yep, have to say you've only got yourself to blame. :)

Nice car! Pity about the slushbox, but it's still a fair bit quicker than what I've got... and it's black, so it shouldn't be too attractive to law enforcement.

supercharge it.

v6 autoplegic... I doubt that'd go over well.

There's nothing wrong with force feeding a V6 Automatic but there's really no point. If I wanted a ticket machine I would have purchased one. This is simply to get from point A to point B with a decent amount of power for passing/getting on the freeway. The automatic is good for when I pass it on to my girlfriend when I leave for boot camp.

lets see:

It's a V6, it'd be better served by a single or twin turbo setup than a supercharger imo

It's an autoplegic, pretty much you should limit hp to under 250-300hp unless it's well built, and with non-locking autoplegic transmissions, you have to keep in mind the extra power loss leading to reduced economy (which I know isn't the point, but regardless, it's still going to effect you a lot if the car is a daily driver).

If it wasn't an autoplegic it wouldn't be nearly as bad, because you'd be able to minimize power loss (reasonably well, keep in mind we assume alternators, A/C, etc are all there regardless. If you really want to completely reduce power loss, you also take out the car's practicality, so).

It's not too late! Go find a manual tranny and swap it in! =D

Build it into a nice street/track car. Then buy a cheap economy car to commute in.

If he could afford a track car he would've gotten one, guys. It's nice-looking, reasonably quick and efficient, and he can pass it on to his girlfriend. That's what he was looking for, that's what he got.

uh, not particularly, but hey, he got a car he likes so that's all that matters

Also, buzzkillington, where in CA you from? North Bay here.

Really, if you look at the power to weight ratios, the v6 really isn't that bad. 190 HP to 3290 lbs, and good lower-end torque (220lb-ft at 2250 rpm). Automatic really is a quite a shame, but it will be a great car, AND it won't be a total-pain to drive in traffic (depending on your commute and amount of possible traffic encountered, this can be a very good thing*EDIT*Okay, yeah, California. An auto is going to be a good thing in California.)

That's a pretty car, too.

I, of course, would have went with a sporty japanese import from the late nineties or early 2000's, but that's just a taste thing. You could have did a WHOLE lot worse than a mustang.

152hp/tonne approx., which isn't bad but it's not good either, considering it weighs over a tonne and a half. for a 'performance' car, that's heavy.

That, of course, leads us back to the fact that he didn't buy it to be a screamer of a car, so the fact it's a v6/autoplegic doesn't matter.

It's nice, but it's not Dave's Shredding Wheels, as Jon called it. ;)

heh naught wrong with a V6. my 91 beretta GTZ was a 3.1 6 CYL and i would smoke mustangs (yes V8 stangs even the 5.0s)at the lights. altho i did have quite a few bolt on upgrades. mandrel bent exhaust, intake you name it. also swapped the stock auto for a 5 stick tho. great car till i wrecked it. nice car man. even if ya not smokin the rubber, you'll look slick cruising around.
