The mouse pads in the computer lab are as big as the monitor.

Seriously.

Not to say that i don't mind squinting at a monitor that may as well be the size of my cell phone, but i think Mr. President hates North Dakota.

Also! I wrote a sweet poem (i'm currently in my Creative Writing class) about Roman warfare. Inspiration came from one of my favorite PC games, Rome: Total War.

Makes me wonder if they have an overglorified sports dept. like the school I went to... you could tell even more because the cafeteria didn't serve food but actually failed kindergarten art creations.

I didn't know they made 32" wide screen mouse pads. Got a link?

We didn't even have a mouse for the computers when I went to school. Still, most people learning and growing up at the time created some of the biggest advancements the computer world has ever seen. It's interesting that we could run huge corporations using monochrome monitors. I'm sure you'll be able to survive with a 15" crt.

That's what I have to survive with every day at home.

It wasn't quite 15"

the mouse pad was the average size one you could find at wal mart.
It felt like 8"

but it gets us by during the class period.

at school we had one computer room, filled with 10 computers that had windows 3.11 and 20 that were dumb terminals.

QFT... New bleechers, returfed field, fresh paint, new uniforms... still 32MBs of ram running Windows ME, or 98.

They must consider themselves special.

The computers that my school district got with 98 had 512mb RAM. They got new ones for the labs 4 years ago, and all new ones 2 or 3 years ago.

Our computers finally got upgraded from Celery processors to Pentium 4's. They're a little late...

At school we did not have a computer when I started learning programming 28 years ago. We used to punch programs out on cards: one instruction line per card. Then we put them in the post to the town 15 miles away where they did have a computer.

A week later we would get back our program card bundle with a print out that said, usually, "error on card one".

After debugging card one we would send them in the post to the town fifteen miles away ....

One week later they would return with "error on card 5" on the print out .. and so went on the long chore of debugging. I'm sure you are getting the picture.

Then we got a research machines Z80A machine. This was I N C R E D I B L E ! It had a whopping 64k RAM and 51/4 inch floppy disks (they were floppy too). You had to load the OS into memory then load the basic compiler and run time environment. After that you had about 22 kilobytes in which to program your code and store all your data.

I blew that up after 6 months though. lol

Proof that not every Micro$oft OS was bloatware. This was probably a 64K disk :) with extra tools !! Just noticed it's disk 4 of ... god knows ... 6 or 8 if I remember ... I take it back .. Micro$oft have always loved bloatware.

and they were floppy (Hence the name)

I still have a drive sitting around somewhere, with the big leaver to turn so you can't remove the disk while in use,

I've got a Z80...

...in my Game Boy Color...

Sorry CB, don't mean to make you feel old. :D

Also, 3.5" floppies aren't floppy at all. Superior to the 5.25" from a technical standpoint, sure (they held more, if we're comparing disks of the same density level, and were tougher) but they just weren't floppy... and having a 5.25" floppy makes you more popular with the ladies.

Wait, no. No, it doesn't.

Hahaha, this is the Chinese Room (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Room) Experiment! At least, it sounds a lot like it. :)
