Yeah it is having real problems.
It doesn't support SLi and the specs you would need to run it are way out of this world. I have heard about people who have booted up the game and are driving around in cars in a world without textures and all types of screwyness. Rockstar or who ever ported it really dropped the ball on this one.

I'll be buying it once it's patched to the point that it works. I (was able to install) it to test how well it would perform on my machine (which is a bit above minimum-spec) and wasn't even able to get into the game. I eventually gave up.
Come on, Rockstar. The PC is the reason the franchise started in the first place, and the PC modding community is most of the reason that the older versions (3/VC/SA) still sell. My fingers are crossed that they'll realize the importance of this and manage to solve the largest problems.

As a warning to anyone considering this game with any after-Christmas money you may have, you should probably steer clear. You will most likely be plagued by various install and gameplay errors that will render the game unplayable for any time longer than 10 minutes. Here is my story:
-First install went great, created my accounts and started the game. Got through the first mission just fine, then I hit ESC to see what kind of Menu options I had to play with. Well, the Menu never game up, it just sat there, black and unresponsive for 5 minutes before I killed it. I closed down GTA and R*'s Social Club app, and started them back up. Got through the intro screens and hit Start to begin the saved game. In normal GTA fashion the game displays the main characters while the game is loading. Well, I got through about 3 of those screens before it crashed with an "RC20 error - Please Reinstall the game"
-Install #2.This time I look around on the internet to see if there is anything I can do or maybe missed. I get all the info I can, uninstall the game and R*SC, reboot, run CCleaner, and reinstall. Install goes fine, get to the game, start playing and everything seems peachy. I do about two missions and it crashes to desktop with "Fatal ZLIB20 error." There are no other messages, and very little reference to that online, so I start the game again. After about 15 minutes the game starts distorting textures and all of a sudden it freezes. I kill it, and restart. Same thing again. Two things that are mentioned a lot with this game is using -memrestrict and other command line commands to prevent memory leaks and help performance. None work. Eventually I get to a point in the game after about 5 missions and ~10 restarts and it loads me with no people, cars, or available missions.
-Install #3. Mid way through installing the first disc it says a .bik file on the CD does not match the one in the Setup's cab file. I try Retry, same prompt. I try Abort and run setup again, same prompt. I try Ignore and it finishes the install. When I run the game it has no sound and the actual game wont load.
-Install #4. Finishing right now. If this doesn't work I'm taking it back to GameStop and trying another physical copy. If that doesn't work I'm returning it and getting it from Steam.
I love the GTA franchises, so I'm going to keep going until it works. If you aren't head over heals for it, and didn't play Vice City all summer back in 2004, then don't bother, it'll most likely be a headache no matter what rig you have.
Hope this helps someone.

Ok I had it since cristmas and since then the new patch makes it much easyer to tweak the settings.. alot of bugs are gone like it makeing stuff disapear and flicker
Im useing
asus 95k/epu
4 gigs ram 800 (849)
E6600 (oced to 3.19) duo not quad
4870 (more then enoff to run this)
4850 (crossfired)
Now I run this game in 1920x1200
with just 1 4870 vs 4850 since I tried all combos just because i was board Not much diffrence in performance of the game fps was the same with both cards..
Now when it lags a bit with the 4850 little bit more noticeable but you can see some slow downs no mater way expelcaly if you spin the camera around alot looking behind ect..
now I get 25fps on less lagy areas and 19 most of the time it drops to 12 when it really lags
Now if I upgraded to the q6600 I would only see a diffrence of 10fps big deal the biggest perfomance boost would be with the intel I7 cpus..
Game is mostly procesor..
The game is playable looks better then the ps3 and xbox 360 on my pc I compared them side by side on the tv after I moved the pc downstairs to try it..

Hah, no. Its minimum is a Dual Core with 1.5GB of RAM. And you might get 10 FPS with that.

If your thinking of buying it hold out for the new PC extreme version. The same game but with a complete overhaul of the graphics engine. Better resolution, better sound, better everything. Like the console version on Crack lol.

I read it in a mag as a sneak peak exclusive sorta thing, I haven't been able to find an online link yet.
I am sure they will release a free addon/patch pack for people who already have it. Kinda like what they did with "The Witcher".

Haven't got around to playing this yet.
The requirements must be ridiculous.
I would defiantly recommend FEAR2, been playing it allot lately.

There is an extra content disk for the Xbox360. You get a whole new set of missions and get to play them out as part of a bikey gang.
I saw F.E.A.R 2 today for $40AUD, was really tempted to get it but my Uni text books took priority :(. I couldn't believe F.E.A.R 2 lol, 3 DVDs and 11.8GB on the HDD rofl.
