Well been tryin to fix this new motherboard.. and now it hangs in linux... its not doing anything right... ive tried everything.. seems it has said its final piece :(
beware of the asus P5GD1-VM... also beware of gettin parts with no warranty :(

Is it the voltage-regulation capacitors up around the CPU? Some Pentium 4-era boards were made with a bad batch of Nichicon HM/HN series caps that were overfilled with electrolyte. If that's the case (they'll be burst open) the board's probably not worth saving unless you're a bit handy with a soldering iron.

See the cylinders that look like a can of Great Stuff shot with a pellet gun? Do you see anything like that on your board?

dude I had aproblem similar and it wasnt the board.some boards just dont run linux real well.i installed windows and every thing went fine.

naw the motherboard looks mint... caps r fine.. and even if so.. i could re solder them.. if i could find the right caps.. but ye.. tis not the case... i wish otherwise.. but there is leads to gettin me a better motherboard/proc.. so im hopin those will come thro... :)
and yes.. the issue started in winblows... and then seemed to progress to linux..

you figure a 425watt Mios PSU will handle this? i figure the motherboard... proc.. video card.. and 2x1Gb DDR2-800 and 1 250Gb sata drive... anybody able to give me a ruff estimation?
