I just read an article about the ice storm you guys are experiencing. My thoughts are with you and I hope that everything turns out better for you guys.

thanks for your thoughts  it was VERY nasty here, Thursday night into friday morning, power was out in my entire town (I'm right next to Worcester, in central MA), luckily I live hear the center and we had power back within 24 hours, most of the town is still out even today. They said the more remote towns (Princeton, Rutland, etc) could be 5-7 days :( It looks so pretty some places, ice covering everything. Other places it looks like a tornado went through. I took lots of pictures, I'll try to get some up today, I'll post them here

Rick (NighttrainSRT4) stopped by yesterday morning to drop off one of the servers for me, and he was amazed, he lives north/northeast from me, and said it wasnt that bad up there, and got down here and was surprised at the damage

one of my wife's friends is staying with us for a while. They were digging for a new septic at her house, and the partially frozen ground coupled with all the rain filled that hole and flooded her basement all the way up to the first floor, covered the oil tank and furnace and everything. They dont know how bad of shape the foundation is in, so she may be staying with us for a month or two. We dont mind though, she's nice :)

We had the same problem back in '06. We had no power for 6 days, but there was good news. Before the storm we had a major roach problem, but after 6 days the house was down to 33 degrees and all the roaches were wiped out. I haven't seen a single one since.

I fared pretty well. I actually went hiking up at the nearby nature refuge and it was beautiful. If I get the pics from my uncle I'll post them.

We didn't have power from late Thursday night until early afternoon today (Sunday). I got some photos off before my camera battery died on Friday; they're being Flickred right now. I've written half this post, now I'll game for a bit until the photos are uploaded.

Here's (http://www.flickr.com/photos/fuzzyplushroom/sets/72157611270031306/) my Flickr set documenting the aftermath. My camera battery died shortly after so I wasn't able to capture all of the damage - we're talking snapped-off telephone poles in some more rural areas. Enjoy.

We had a bit of snow beforehand. Most of the 'snow' there is ground-up ice shards and unformed sleet pellets, though.

Great photos, by the way. Nice to have something to compare to. +rep Did you lose power at all? Sounds like your uncle did.

Ya, it was crazy. I live in the town that is directly N/NE of Worcester and we had absolutely nothing. I had been studying for finals so I hadn't even heard much of the ice storm except in passing that there was some ice around Worcester.

Went out Saturday morning to drop the server off to Will as planned, as I hadn't gotten in touch with him due to the loss of power they were having. Normal morning drive until I got to the other side of Worcestor and it turned into an Ice Forest. I didn't get to look through every picture but it didn't quite do it justice, although beautiful pictures. The pics make it look centralized or localized.

Going down one hill you could see over the treetops a bit, and whole forests were turned to ice. They've got those trees with tons of little tiny branches, and every single one was a shard of ice. It was amazingly beautiful, and quite haunting to think about what people without power were going to do, as it was quite cold.

Wait till I get back from Russia in January...then you're going to see cold. Daytime temperature of -10C, nightime -24C. Niiiice.
