Two days ago it started to rain. Soon after it became freezing rain and transitioned to snow. I worked till 8 p.m. and started to drive home. I only live about 10 miles from home and the drive was brutal.

But it wasn't the drive that I'm talking about. When I got home I went to my computer and had no internet!!!!!

My internet connection just got fixed today. I went 40hrs with NO INTERNET ACCESS!!!

I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE!!!

How do you know you didn't? You could be lying in a hospital somewhere, your loved ones crowded around your bed...the doctors telling them it's time to turn off the machines, there's no cure for internet withdrawl...

Some ISP's offer a certain amount of 'emergency' dial-up hours you can use. You know you're in tough when you call the that number and talk directly to it without the use of a dial-up modem.

Christ man, I thought you were gonna tell us you drove your car into a ditch.

Internet withdrawal is worse, of course.

I have 7 PC's so at least I usually don't have to worry about one or two or more being down.

I fell for you mate, I fell for you. I went a full 2 years without the net on my PC. We only had dial up so there was no point of getting a router. Dial is absolutely useless lol, I didn't even use it on dads PC.

I'm sure he's thrilled to hear it... :devious:

Nah, seriously, we went about 60 hours with no power (and thus no heat, no lights, etc.)... and no computer, of course. Sad thing was that if I'd had a UPS, I could've borrowed a laptop and hooked it into the modem, as we still had a phone line...

Once it gets down to about 40 degrees inside your house, you don't tend to miss the Internet, though! ;)

40? sounds about right. it's damn near that in my room right now... cold as a mother, but oh god is this the prime time to play Far Cry... no fear of overheating.

We had a power-outage one time so D-F waled across our town (probably between 5 and 7 ks) and woke me up at nearly lunch time! :)

I used to have major problems with my internet. We had a dodgy modem so our net tended to cut out every hour or so, sometimes itd go every fifteen minutes, but it wouldnt stay out, itd re-connect itself almost right away, so that made it really frustrating, when your in the middle of someting (which was mainly BF2 back then) and your interent cuts out, chucks you out of the game, but almost immediately after, your able to get straight back into the game!

They were very frustrating days. Oh well, nets fine now :)

Btw, that must have SUCKED TB4O, poor you...

Yeah, I ended up having to pay for the initial broadband costs, when dad saw how good it was he picked up the bill. I was left $150AUD out of pocket but very happy.
