Pish Posh.

I see Ken Block popping up everywhere and the sad thing is that yes, it's impressive driving, but real Gymkhana is a lot more like this:

dgXlgxpYVfU

And less of his high-speed, wide-open "gymkhaha" course.

I've actually grown sick of seeing Ken Block this and Ken Block that.

Yeah, he knows how to drive a car better than pretty much any average American. Go watch some WRC (watch a whole season), and you'll see more experienced drivers (keep an eye on the finns) doing more impressive stuff.

EDIT:

Also, I'm not really surprised that his "gymkhana" course is so big and drawn out... he's using a hugely overpowered rally car (650hp + 4wd = damn near impossible to be tight and technical), whereas a good car for doing tight, clean, technical maneuvers would be RWD and depending on weight, anywhere from 150 to 200hp or so.

I'd probably be less hostile if he wasn't calling it gymkhana or if he was doing rally practice on some loose surface.

EDIT: Also, I'd very much like to see how he'd stack up in a WRC event, under full regulations.

I love WRC so hard because it's less a testament of the car's engineering and more of the driver's ability. A good driver can use a car that's four or five years old (most of them run brand new models, though) and still be competitive. In fact, in '07, there was a guy (uh, I forget his name EDIT: Toni Gardermeister, who competed in five events with a Lancer Evo WRC and one with a Citroen Xsara.) who finished in the top 8 or damn near in almost every stage using a '03 or '04 Mitsu Lancer Evo.
