If it takes DDR2, it will just downclock it. You might even be able to "overclock" it to full speed.

well in that case I may snag it...does it matter if my mobo is dual channel and this mem isnt? also my mobo has ECC, this mem doesnt support it, does that matter as well?

The RAM is a matched pair, it'll run in dual-channel regardless. The board won't be happy if it requires ECC, but if it just supports it, all will be fine. Is it the one in your specs? If so, that supports ECC as well as non-ECC memory, so you'll be okay.
Seriously, go for it. It'll be worth a bit on eBay in a couple years, and you can run it at reduced speeds (with tight timings!) until then. I'd get a set myself if I was planning on Vista and/or didn't have a bit of a problem with mail-in rebates (though that's how I got half of this computer, go figure...)

yep its the intel board in my specs. awesome thanks for the info! I'll try to throw some funds together and maybe snag 2 sets, one under my name and maybe one under my parents for rebate purposes lol
