It would help to an extent, but you're going to be very CPU limited. I'd save up for a new CPU, motherboard, RAM and GPU.

Those look very good to me. I'm not an Intel fan so I can't speak for the MOBO or the processor, but I own that exact video card and it is awesome. You will NOT be disappointed. Couple of things to bear in mind, it's a large card, and you will want Rivatuner to be able to control the fan speed.

I agree. The CPU seems to be a little outdated for this technology. I would wait a bit and save up for a socket AM2 or AM2+ processor.

If you go AMD, make sure you get an AM2+ board at least, so you can upgrade to later processors (Phenoms and AM3 chips to come). That'd be the way to go if you really want an upgrade path.

im confused i thought from what i read quad core intel was the way to go and amd was lacking for gaming .
That is the majority of what i do iam a Amd normally what do you recommend in the way of mobos and processors from amd for gaming thanks in advance

Intel is ahead of AMD, but they're also more expensive.

You'll probably wanna look into a new psu with that setup.

Man i have a AMD cpu and its flippin great. You know the intels are faster but whats the sense in having a 200$ quad core paired with a mid level 120$ video card?

For 100$ you could get a Phanom 7750 Black edition with unlocked multipliers so no need for increasing the front side bus speed just to make your cpu faster.

you could take that money and get a Geforce 8800GTS 640MB 112SPU KO Super Super Clock edition. I have one and I've witnessed it Trample over a 8800GTX. there only 189.99.

If not that? then why not use that extra cash to buy a power supply. Cause your going to need a good one anyways.

That Asus board looked hella nice though.

oh AMD boards tend to be a couple bucks cheaper sometimes. And these new Phaenom style cpus support the fast 800/1066 ram unlike some of the older Athlon X2 cpus which only supported DDR2-667.

My Arguement simply would be...

When your already getting 100fps whats another 100$ for 15fps on a intel?
and a Balanced System tends to be more stable and perform smoother then a mismatched performance system.

But you know I havent tried fallout 3 myself so i can't personally say it will kick ass. but my buddy has a amd quad core and says it runs fine at high quality settings with 4x AA and AF respectively.

But I can say 95% of the video games out there run excellent on AMD cpus. Left 4 dead on my 4400+ X2 is really good enough to play left 4 dead and film with fraps at the same time.

I gotta 6400+ X2 coming in the mail.....

Heres a left4dead video i made using the 4400+ dual core

Really the only lag you see is When He says "Please don't Jam me" and that witch part but I was taking Screen shots at the same time as filming. That movie isn't done But it'll have that chick raisin up through some screen shots.

Crysis runs fine also. But no hopes of recording on that game It turns into a slide show as soon as explosions start going off.
