I love bad weather. I love looking around at all the miserable people, running home to escape from something as feeble and pathetic as rain. I love the quiet tranquility of a landscape smothered in snow. I love the way ice changes the landscape entirely, familiar locations taking on new forms. I love the lights this time of year, painting my city in fantastic colours. I love wrapping up against the cold, the way we cover every inch of skin till people can't recognise their own friends in the street.

Why do I love it? Oh, I have my reasons. ;)

I love to watch people, much like Dave. I do it all the time, regardless of season, but something about winter and the holidays changes people a bit, or rather brings out sides of them you don't normally get to see.

I love watching how rushed people are, when if they took a second to breathe they would question why? I like to watch the anger and frustration as people rush to get gifts. Watch people push and shove each other just to get that one gift. I love to watch the rare acts of compassion/passion you see as well.

A few weeks ago I was going on the subway/T and there was this older guy sitting there playing the guitar. Everyone was avoiding him/ignoring him but I walked over and watched him and listened intently. I didn't care if he was ditching a real job to sit and play music. I didn't care if he was playing for booze money, it didn't matter to me. He played with passion. His music felt genuine. Notes off key, chords slightly off of what could make it perfect. It didn't matter to me as his passion opened my eyes a bit. Gave him more money than I probably should have, as it could just be a hustle/game, but to me, the music had feeling. I felt something.

I just enjoy watching people. I don't know why. Not in a creepy way, but just analyzing people as a whole. As a single person, and as an entity. Just something about it that comforts and intrigues me. Something about the winter season peaks that feeling even more, and I can't describe why.

The other night at a bar, some little chick was getting pushed to the back. When it was my turn to get served I pushed some other people out the way so she could get in and buy her drinks. She looked at me, and said: "Are you sure?"

"Move it before I change my mind."

My answer to most things like this; be nice, but not enough that people think they can take advantage. She paid for her drinks and scrammed, and I just stood there in the crowd with the bustling people and smiled at how silly it all was.

Winter does bring out something else in people, doesn't it?

Outdoor winter activities such as hiking, skiing, sledding, etc. I also love the snow and the scenery and all. If a season exists, why not enjoy it to the fullest? Being angry or miserable is unpleasant, so to hell with that I say!

Watching people try to drive in the snow. Enough said.

Driving in the snow is one of my favourite things! I love slipping around. Screw the car, I'll buy another, as long as no-one is hurt.

Snow is rare in my City, sheltered by the Clyde valley. When it does happen you'll find me outside in the big white.

Snow and ice are a rarity where I live, too. I really wish it would snow or ice over here, so I can go out in the chariot and hoon around in the snow and ice. Sliding around, spinning the wheels, laughing and having a grand old time. Sounds good to me.
