I'm trying not to be a dick, but this whole website is pics of computers. ;) I'm not going to do anything about this thread, but don't be surprised if you don't get many replies.

Oh, and you could use some cable management. ;)

there has been tons of these such threads... this will just be the newest flavour... but on the same note.. i might aswell show my rack of useless computers.. all rly rly old P2s and such and a bunch of spare cases
its hosted on my own server.. the beige box on the right of the 2 on the rack..
http://lithbsd.us.to/pictures/serverrack.jpg 1600x1200.. but really crappy quality... im goin to be adding my xbox to the rack as another linux system..

the one on the left hold all my music and videos
the right is a freebsd webserver + bnc
the screen is hooked up to the media server since it is really the only windows system i have right now.. and all those other cases r empty or filled with broken hardware..

I'm so ashamed to even show you guys this, but this is my main PC in all of it's horror. It will be my next project, but I've never had a chance to properly install the hardware due to the fact that I always needed it online and I didn't have the time, tools, or resources to fix it up. So, here goes...

most of the time i nevr screwed anything in on my systems, i think the worst one was my old AMD machine, it had 1 screw holding everything, even the two PSU's were sitting on the floor of the case.

One screw in the mobo, and that was it!

That's worse than me... even when I ran my old Sempron system attached to two boards and some PSU covers, everything was screwed down tight!

Anyway, this is my main rig, in a pretty-much-stock Antec 1200:

Such beautiful, beautiful overkill.

Thanks, Mitternacht - took me a few days on-and-off to get all the cables where they belonged. The 1200's not quite as pretty inside, unfortunately.

Its called THE BEAST... its almost as tall as me when its ontop of my desk an im 5ft 11"

only things ive done to it is cut holes in top for triple 120mm rad cut the window on the side changed the 2 front panels to black plexi sprayed the insides matt black and the outsides gloss black. and the psone screen...

this is what it started out as

not to be negative, but your window cut lines dont look very straight. and i would sleeve all those extra molex connections that are hanging loose. Other than that, looks good.

knightyc
01-18-2009, 04:53 PM
it was my 1st time using a jigsaw lol. there are no molex hanging loose all are being used. and the rest of cables are too thick to sleeve with most of things ive seen in shops plus when door is closed only cable tha can be seen is the yellow one and ones to mobo and gfx cards

tip for cable management,

Turn your HDD's backwards if your leads are long enough, it makes routing them easier, i've always done that if the leads are long enough.

A window would be kinda cool but I don't really want one, the case I had this computer in before this case had a window and lights and it ended up annoying me. I use the computer for watching a lot of media and the lights and window are distracting. Even without lights the motherboard has two very bright embedded LEDs on it that can be really annoying at night and for now the computer is in my bedroom and the lights bother me when i am asleep.

tip for cable management,

Turn your HDD's backwards if your leads are long enough, it makes routing them easier, i've always done that if the leads are long enough.

I would but the the in the front of the HD rack I am using gets in the way. And the orignal racks built in the case (I took them out) didnt have enough room behind them. It doesnt really matter unless i get a window in the case anyways.

...for now the computer is in my bedroom and the lights bother me when i am asleep.

The six LED fans in my 1200 drive me nuts. I throw a blanket over my case at night and shut off the LEDs in the top fan, then leave about 1/3 of that top fan uncovered so the monolith doesn't overheat.

I've got switches in some unused PCI slots on the i/o panel that turn off my CCFLs, and I can turn off my temp gauge, so that just leaves the blue power LED

chaksq
01-24-2009, 01:18 PM
That is cool and all but I keep my computer against a wall so the PCI slots are out for switches, and I would put them in the front panel or top but I haven't yet found a case fan that allows you to turn off the LEDs but let the fan still function. If I found fans like that I would likely replace the fans in the desktop with lighted ones.

The 1200's got five of those Tri-Cools, and they're a bit loud but not too bad on High... on the other hand, I've had two 80mm Smartfans, and those are obscene at full bore (4800 RPM). I feel you there.

omg... but wouldnt you get better cpu temps by turning the cpu cooler 90 degrees?

It's an AMD board. The orientation of the bracket around the socket only allows the cooler to be mounted facing the GPU or the PSU, it can't face the exhaust fan.

The cooler should be rotated to blow towards the PSU.

Look at it this way though. HP and Voodoo teamed up and made that crazy gaming system the "Blackbird" and people bought that thing lol. So maybe Dell was on to something. They have the new XPS cases and those things look cool, but all in all I think people would still buy a Dell just because of the ease of buying and receiving the actual item. Sorry to get the thread off topic lol.

Maybe they wanted people to carry it easier Aka a hand grip. The only reason i say that is that it was a pain in the but to cut though.

The boy 4rm oz
02-11-2009, 09:09 PM
VooDoo only teamed up with HP cos HP brought them out in 2006 lol. I agree the Blackbird was sold but only to the most extreme of users, one of my friends got the case alone and it cost him $2000 before shipping to Aus.

Dell are known for their cheap "you get what you pay for" systems, they sit there and do their job. That's what the majority wants. Imagine putting a really low end PC in a Blackbird for use in a store front. The only people who would buy it would be us modders cos it's the cheapest way to get the case lol.

Sorry for the Hijack lol.

Like the car guy whose daily driver is actually something quirky and fast, pOPe stands out from the pack. I still love that thing.

thanks a lot! many hours has gone into this thing, and im glad that people likes it:D

Truly an amazing mod pOPe, bloody awesome work. I can't wait for your next.

thx dude! dont know when a "next" will come but i hope to make it better;P

very nice, its a shame they make those res's out of aluminum though as your system will start to corrode. they should at the very least line it with copper...

but i really like it +rep.

yeah... but sadly they were the only one who fitted probertly and still looked nice:D

love the res's sticking out the top! def gives it a cool look!

thx:D i had to put them there since putting them into the case itself would... erm.. be hard to fit:D

might work, but don't like the idea of it in the loop. also may mess with the plexi.

yea, i dont like it in the loop either but, I put fresh water in the loop half an hour ago and before that let some dry in the res, it's not beading anymome.

Thermaltake 750w Evo_blue PSU

Here is a better shot where you can see the bottom. The PSU is a 750w Thermaltake Evo Blue. The fan has RGB leds and can cycle through: blue, green, red, multi color with patterns, multicolor and single color flashing. Its modular and you can expect a review on it soon.

Is that red one an old Vento? Love the XPS :D.I don't remember wth the red one is...it's made by Raidmax but I couldn't track down the product name as it's long been discontinued. I actually dislike it because it's plastic is about the size of a mid-tower, then the aluminum case inside is much smaller...My knuckles get cut up just thinking about working in it. :hurt:

Left: is a computer i just gave a slight face lift for my dad, Was my sisters old rig (Pendium D 2.8ghz, 1gb ddr2 533, Radeon 9600 256, and a 60gb hdd) The ODD and FDD were an ugly beige that just stood out horribly against the case's blue and black theme so i used some of the paint i had left over from Project Blue Sift to paint them so they would blend in better.

Center: This is my girlfriends rig, wich is my previous gaming rig. (AMD Athlon x2 3800 939, 3 gb DDR 400, Radeon 3870 512mb, and a 250gb hdd.) It is still a work in progress. Tonight I'm gonna swap out the aftermarket cooler i have on it for the stock cooler form my Phenom II x4 940. The aftermarket that is on it isn't doing very good and I'm thinking the 940's stock cooler will be able to handle it better. As far as the mods go so far i have just pained the front and the dvd drive and swaped out the case's leds & fans for red ones. Next is to put in a side window and paint the interior of the case.

Right: Project: Blue Shift (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17103) My current rig and work in progress, (AMD Phenom II 940 3.4ghz, 8gb ddr2 800, Radeon 4890 1gb, and 3 hdd totaling 4tb of storage) The project is almost finished i just have to come up with a design for the decals I'm gona have made for it.

If he actually wants the damn thing, Google tells me that it's an RX-9 (http://www.bigbruin.com/reviews05/review.php?item=raidmaxrx9&file=1). It looks sleek, but I don't know that it would lend itself well to modding.

And you're 100% right, it's one helluva mod-proof case. I suppose I could have painted it, but at the time it was already a pretty unique color.
I got it in '05, a time before I considered 'modability' in my case purchasing quests. I decided a few years ago that I was going to get something different to mod when I started noticing full immersion cooling and wanted to try that. For various reasons it never happened...but I'm working on it.

A real nice rig sunny, I heard a lot of bad things about the CoolerMaster modding comp, a lot of flame over at Bit-Tech.

Since there are 2 parts of the story, I'll start with the first, the CM side...
the second part is the co-filipino contestants (philippines) that eventually pulled me to DisQualification.

First, It has a wrong type of judging - winning thru popularity vote, as announced before the contest started July 2009, voting can be done by simply registering and checking the worklog. Come that voting day Oct 2009, when voting went out of hand and accusation of vote rigging blown to proportionS, they added more rules that doesn't conform with the type of judging and eventually Disqualified the eventual leaders of the vote. After that, It went back to the first rule!!!

In my case, I made a suggestion on the second day of voting to separate the contestants vote (say 30 of us modders) with that of the viewers vote (majority are newly registered member/s who wished to vote for their relative, friend who join that contest) and make this just part of a percentage of the 100% mark. I was expecting much percentage should come to the CM group as I thought they'll check our worklog as well???

Anyway, it's really a sickening scenario with so many versions of story... and I will never join any contest with that exact rule of POPULARITY VOTING.

err btw, some obnoxious looking worklog and basic case modding process won in that contest. That surely isn't the place for me...

More likely it's a FAILURE OF ELECTION!!!

Thanks Brothers, Now I can breath fresh air, let's rock and mod!!!

the second part, maybe sometime in the future just for the sake of bringing myself to justice!!!

btw-as of this time, I am modding a second BUCKET, an exact duplicate of that one... into a submarine!

Yes Sir The boy 4rm oz the name is Subtella (the twin brother of Satella), i'll try putting my hand again in a blending machine (:whistler:getting into trouble:whistler:). I am still trying to find that video of Roger Moore as 007 James Bond (i think For Your Eyes Only 1982 fame) with that Submergable things they used. I'll do something like that...

The Satella, like a satellite will have to look like (flying) floating in space at all time, so I still have to make an elevated acrylic stand to rest... I'll post a photo of that full clear acrylic stand later.

Whilst this Subtella on the other hand, like a submarine will somehow be submerge it's half body into a clear acrylic aquarium with live tropical fishes in it...btw, I am a tropical fish breeder and enthusiast.

and after this Subtella, I'll reformat my brain to do a lesser job!!! like gardening...

I don't have anything negative about the CoolerMaster products, it is the people surrounding that miscalculated decision that makes them look bad!
