so ive been playing around with my xbox, but hesitating to really do anything to it seeing as it was our (me and my fiances) mode of gaming. but those days have come to an end. my brother in law (her brother) got us a 360 pro package for christmas so now i have no need to worry about goin gameless
so here is my latest piece of work. im sure its gunna take plenty of bondo to finish up, but when its done? heh we'll we shall see. im gunna be stuck with only 2 USB ports now, but meh. still enough for a keyboard and mouse :D :D

UPDATE!!!
the latest work on makin the slimbox work out..
obviously fitting things into this box will be difficult..
the harddrive? absolutely horrible tyo try and fit.. but i did.. barely.. i opted out of putting in the laptop HDD because i figured.. well i dont wanna reinstall everything.. and i have useful stuff on that drive..
first.. the CPU cooler.. definitly a challenge.. i took a old 40mm fan from a MX400 i had laying around
and grinded out a spot on the heatsink so it would fit within the case
like so:

fit rather nicely i would say :)

test fitting all the new components:

&
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr48/LiTHiUM0XiD3/IMG00108.jpg
aslong as it stays under the height of the HDD i will be fine
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr48/LiTHiUM0XiD3/IMG00107.jpg
looks good so far.. but nowhere close to done.. i still have to wire up the fans power source.. and put a new wireless dongle inside for a controller (the silver one from before wore out and the blue one sucks)
thats all for now

It looks nice; Microsoft should have made xboxes that size. Good idea with the fan, although it probably doesn't even need one. It doesn't hurt to keep it a little cooler, I suppose. +rep

You can buy em just about anywhere online, just search google. And just as nevermind just said, I bet people will be wiling to give you parts. If I wasn't working on an xbox mod myself, I would throw mine towards you.

I'm modding an xbox, but I'm putting an intel atom board into it and using a pico psu, so I don't really need the original one.

The cooling situation would improve with a laptop drive (or SSD if you can afford it). You can easily clone your existing drive via FTP.

He put a laptop drive in it, but ended up having to take it out to replace a dead one in a laptop. The SSDs are still fairly expensive, and would require a SATA adapter.
