Anyone here have experience with autocad? I talked to the waterjet guy down the street from me yesterday, says he needs the files to be in .dfx format (I believe). I've got the logo I need in a .psd format, just need someone to tranfer it to a .dfx file. thanks!!

The psd file is photoshop, dfx is a cad file, the way I know how to do it is to redraw it in the CAD program then save it as a dfx (autocad defaults to dwg)

You don't have to use AutoCAD there are several lower cost cad programs that save files as dxf.

http://photoshop-dxf-output.qarchive.org/ this is a stand alone program to convert image files to cad files.

I'm sure there is a plugin you could install into photoshop so you can save thoes file types directly from PS. I just havent looked hard enough.

Looking at getting some designing software to construct virtual models, mostly of different types of windmills before trying to build them in the real world (part of school project). I've found two programs, Blender and AutoCAD and was wondering what would be better for this purpose?

Blender is free. Go with it.

Autocad is free to students. If your school gives you a .edu email address you should be able to get the software easily.
